Overcoming challenges for green transformation

The Vietnam Foodexpo 2024 has taken place from November 13 to 16, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh city, attracting many international customers. Vietnamese companies actively participating in the exhibition have introduced various certifications related to quality standards, food safety and environmental protection. Many customers were impressed not only by the taste and quality of the products, but also by the agility of Vietnamese businesses in transforming their production processes to meet environmental standards and sustainable development.

The organizers of Vietnam Foodexpo 2024 stated that by understanding the new demands of the market, this year's exhibition focuses on updating information and diverse perspectives on green transformation to support businesses in grasping trends and making bold transformations to meet global green and sustainable standards. This is a crucial foundation and motivation to promote the process of recovery and green, sustainable economic development, in line with global trends towards the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, which Vietnam has committed to.

However, for many small and medium-sized domestic enterprises, the green transformation process faces numerous challenges. Specifically, these enterprises may lack the necessary expertise and technology to meet international customers’ criteria and they struggle to fulfill large order volumes. To address this issue, Le Minh Sang, Director of Tan My Fruit Cooperative in North Tan Uyen district shared that enterprises and cooperatives must master production techniques and be bold in investing in machinery, equipment and technology applications for production. So far, the cooperative has developed and registered labels, using electronic stamps (QR codes) to trace product origins. Thanks to these efforts, the cooperative's products are now available at many domestic supermarkets and its pomelo products are also exported to China, Singapore, Eastern Europe and the European Union... Each year, the cooperative harvests around 1,000 tons of fruits, with the average profit of 20 VND billion.

Possibly seeing,Tan My Fruit Cooperative has made great efforts and achieved encouraging results in creating a value chain for fruit products, providing stable jobs and income for rural workers. This shows that if fully grasping production techniques, market regulations and boldly embracing digital transformation, small and medium-sized enterprises can successfully implement green transformation.
