Persistent on sustainable export goals

To meet the province's goal of over 10% export growth by 2025, businesses are striving to leverage the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed and implemented, enhance production development strategies, and explore new markets.

Businesses make many efforts

In 2025, Binh Duong aims to boost its export turnover by 10.1% compared to 2024. Local business leaders believe this goal is achievable, especially as most of the province's key export markets have shown signs of recovery and growth. Additionally, export markets that have signed and implemented Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with Vietnam are also experiencing significant growth. Currently, some businesses already have orders in place that extend through the end of the first quarter of 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghia, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Thien Loc Joint Stock Company in Thu Dau Mot City, stated, “To maintain our brand, we will continue to invest in research, expand our production scale, and enhance the quality of our corrugated iron and steel products to meet the growing demands of the market. Sustaining and developing a brand requires businesses to make ongoing investments in research and development, refine production processes, and adhere to international standards to promote sustainable growth.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Le Hai Lieu, Chairwoman of Duc Thanh Wood Company in Tan Uyen City, states that to maintain the market, the company prioritizes environmental protection in all its production and business activities. “Production associated with environmental protection is not only a responsibility to the community but also a way to create long-term value and affirm our position in the export market. With a commitment to using rubber wood - a type of wood regenerated from trees that have lost their ability to be exploited for latex, we say no to using wood exploited from natural forests. This sustainable development philosophy has become a guiding principle, helping the company create quality products and spread the message of environmental responsibility,” said Ms. Le Hai Lieu.

At the end of November 2024, Duc Thanh Wood Company, in collaboration with the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), organized a meeting focused on conducting a greenhouse gas inventory and evaluating the company's potential for reducing emissions. According to leaders of Duc Thanh Wood Company, the meeting opened up new directions, helping the company take a big step forward on the path of sustainable development. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2025. To achieve this goal, the company has detailed plans to utilize renewable energy sources such as solar energy to replace fossil fuels, reducing CO2 emissions, adjusting operating hours to reduce energy usage during peak hours, helping to save energy, and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, the company conducts on-site surveys at its factory to identify and improve the operating efficiency of machinery and equipment, minimize energy waste; installs solar power systems on the factory roof, creating a clean energy source and reducing dependence on the national grid.

High determination

According to leaders of Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, to achieve the export growth target of over 10% in 2025, Binh Duong will continue to restructure the economy towards improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness; emphasize the implementation of solutions to support small- and medium-sized enterprises; focus on consulting and training solutions according to the needs of enterprises, such as business restructuring, finance, labor, market, risk management, digital transformation, and participation in sustainable value chains. Along with that, the province also continues to simplify administrative procedures, enhance the application of digital technology and digital transformation, improve the efficiency of the quality management system, and reduce time and unofficial costs for people and businesses.

Ms. Phan Thi Khanh Duyen, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, stated that, given the many unpredictable factors affecting import and export activities, the industry and trade sector is highly determined and making significant efforts to achieve this year's export growth target. Currently, the trend of trade protectionism is on the rise, with many countries implementing measures to incentivize investment within their borders and erecting trade barriers. Vietnam's key export markets, such as the European Union, which emphasizes sustainable development, have introduced various new regulations, including the carbon adjustment mechanism and anti-deforestation laws. These regulations impact some of Vietnam's key export products.

In the near future, the province's industry and trade sector will work together to implement the solutions proposed by various ministries, departments, and local authorities. They will actively support import-export enterprises, focusing on helping them take advantage of FTAs that Vietnam has signed and is currently implementing. This support will include providing information on rules of origin, assisting with the issuance of certificates of origin, and highlighting opportunities for maximizing the benefits from these FTAs. This sector enhances efforts to provide market information on digital platforms to localities, industry associations, and businesses, while also supporting enterprises in overcoming new trade barriers in export markets.

Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Business Federation: Binh Duong has experienced significant development over the years. Moving forward, it is crucial for businesses to collaborate effectively to build a stronger foundation that enables them to progress more rapidly and sustainably. This includes focusing on sustainable development, expanding export markets, and reinforcing the position of the Binh Duong business community.
