Potentials promoted
Visiting Phu An Commune today, people, if enough notice is made, will see the marks left behind by bombs hidden by the bamboo forests. Taking a look around, we can see the past of war covered by smooth streets connecting hamlets and flower blooms welcoming an upcoming spring.
Phu An Commune has a physical area of over 1,978 ha, of which, over 1,588 ha are for agriculture production. The population is 14,780 people, of whom 6,190 are immigrants. Agriculture plays an important role in economic structure of the commune; however, industry and services have recently developed. In new rural area construction, all the rural roads have been constructed to connect localities, facilitating business and production of the public. To become a new rural commune, Phu An Commune has earned breakthroughs in economic and labor structure transition. The commune has made use of all available resources to develop production and apply science and technology into production.
Recently, local people in Phu An Commune has chosen milk cow to improve their household businesses. Mr. Pham Anh Vu, residing at Ben Giang Hamlet, has bred up to 23 milk cow from his initial 6 milk cows. Vu informed that he had invested nearly VND 200 million to have such herd of milk cow to earn money from milks and cow breeds.
Phu An Commune also has a village of famous rice paper cake. Currently, many household businesses have produced this kind of product in mass and created many jobs to local people with averagely VND 4-5 million a month.
Non-stop efforts
As a land of potentials, many people from outside the province and some units have settled down in Phu An for farms and ranges including the Institution of Sugarcane Research. Do Duc Hanh, an agriculture engineer and Head of Science and International Cooperation Division of the Institution, said that the orchid garden of 8,000 m2 of the Institution has offered effective harvest. For this Tet Holiday, the garden is expected to sell out about 6,000 orchid roots at VND 40,000 to 120,000 a root. Mr. Luong Manh Day, the person in direct manage of the orchid garden said that the garden has enabled to offer jobs to 10 workers at VND 5 million of salary a month. Orchid in Phu An Commune will be delivered to provinces of the middle and highland of Vietnam and more new orchid will be delivered within 2016.
In 2015, poverty ratio (of provincial standards) of Phu An Commune was reduced to 6 households. In the commune, 30 enterprises, 586 household businesses, 3 groups of cooperation (2 groups of milk cow cooperation and 1 group of rice paper cake) with 31 member households are operating in Phu An Commune.
Talking about changes in Phu An Commune, Hoang Thi Xuan Nuong, the Deputy Chair of Phu An Commune People’s Committee said that to be certified as a new rural commune, local leaders and people have made non-stop efforts to made year on year changes.
In the new spring, people of Phu An Commune are more excited to enjoy the day by day transformation. Aside from agriculture, industry, trade and services, eco-tourism is being developed. Phu An Commune is becoming a place for tourists to visit and learn about a heroic location and enjoyment of local delicacies and treatment of local friendly people.
