Compared to other localities in the province, Phu Giao is a district with modest industrial development. Building up a new-style rural district with hi-tech agricultural production was also defined in the Resolution of the district’s 4th Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure. But, the district has also always paid attention to industrial production. Accordingly, the district has set a target on shifting the local economic structure properly, developing auxiliary industries in order to raise the effectiveness of agricultural production.

Positive changes in industrial production
Over the past time, the district’s home industrial and industrial production made positive changes in the right direction. Especially, in the period of 2010-2015, the district’s industrial sector developed vigorously with the annual growth of 13.1%. Its growth significantly contributed to the shift of the local labor and economic structures. The whole district has so far had a total of more than 470 home industrial and industrial production facilities with more than 2,830 laborers. The sector’s total value last year was estimated at approximately VND2.36trillion.
The district’s economic structure also saw a shift in the right direction with the proportion of agricultural production on gradual decrease and the proportion of industrial production on increase over the past years. In 2011, agricultural production accounted for 44% of the district’s economic structure while industrial production occupied 30.4%. The respective proportions in 2015 were 40.5% and 31.5%. There was also a rapid increase on the local structure of economic sectors with effective models.
Breakthrough for industrial development
Phu Giao district’s industrial sector is playing an important role in the local economic development process while contributing to effectively tapping the local advantages. The district is now home to Tam Lap industrial compound with nearly 200 hectares in total. The district also set up a project on building an industrial zone of 500 hectares, which was approved. As planned, the district will form up 5 industrial compounds with more than 307 hectares in total and 1 industrial park of 1,000 hectare. This will be the foundation for the local industrial sector to create a breakthrough in the coming time.
For industrial sector effectively developed, Phu Giao district will bend on perfecting construction of industrial infrastructure under the plan while diversifying economic sectors in industrial development in association with agricultural production, promoting the local rural industrialization. The district will also attach special importance to production in association with materials areas; further reform administrative procedures to effectively lure investment projects…
Furthermore, the district will pay attention to fostering hi-quality vegetables-fruits growing areas in order to generate stable supply of materials for processing sector, domestic consumption and export; brace up the formation of join ventures with modern technology and equipment to process vegetables and fruits for export. More importantly, the district will apportion industrial development space in line with features of each area such as building up a hi-tech industrial park with auxiliary industries in Tam Lap; associating industrial development with urban-service development, mining sector and materials production in Vinh Hoa, Phuoc Hoa…
