The local Farmers’ Society is now home to around 11,000

In 2012, the local Farmers’ Society mobilized nearly VND700mln in loans and reached VND2.9bln in loans mandated. There were 93 farming households getting loan support of VND1.4bln. They used the loan effectively for economic development. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Vice-Chairman of the local Farmers’ Society said that providing farmers with timely loans plus simple lending procedures has made them have a strong attachment with the society, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development programs.
Also upon the loan-giving task well implemented, the number of the local farming households escaping poverty has been raised annually. There were 337 out of 910 local farming households escaping poverty last year. Thanks to getting loan support from the local Farmers’ Society, Doan Thi Hao residing at hamlet 4, Tan Hiep commune has so far risen up out of poverty and secured a stable life. She now possesses a rubber plantation of 9,000 sq.m under stable development.
Vu Hai Ly, Chairman of Tan Hiep communal People’s Committee said that farming households in the commune have effectively used loan from the district’s Farmers’ Society. But, the amount of loans for the local farming households to promote production models is not much compared to the real demand. Hence, the local authorities need to strengthen loans for farming households and provided training to them on technology transfer and new farming techniques in order to help raise their incomes.
Regarding orientations about loan support for farmers, Nguyen Thanh Hung, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s Farmers’ Society said: “The district’s Farmers’ Society will further promote the local Support Fund for Farmers and create favorable conditions for farmers to get access to loans for economic development. Along with this, the society will coordinate with relevant agencies to provide farmers with training on technical transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry...”.
