Phu Giao district now focuses on removing difficulties to promote the national target program for new rural construction. Farm economy is seen as one of the district’s important levers to successful implement the program in the coming time.
Locals’ thoughts and actions changed
Phu Giao district has so far implemented the national target program for new rural construction in 8 communes, in which Tan Long has been selected as a pilot commune to fulfill the program by 2013. These communes are now in the fourth step in 7 steps for new rural construction.
After two-year implementation, the
national new rural construction program in association with many other programs
has contributed to bringing great changes to Phu Giao district. As of late
2011, the average income per capita of the local people reached VND23.4mln.
More than 98% and 99% of the local people were in use of electricity and clean
water, respectively. The ratio of poor households herein was only 7.3%,
reducing by 5.05% compared to early this year…
The program has also contributed to changing the local people’s thoughts and actions. Particularly, the average income per capita of the local people has increased by VND3.2mln compared to the same period of last year. The district’s economic structure has been changed in the right direction; the district’s traffic infrastructure has been improved at the local people’s demand for traveling.
“Fever” from farm economy
As of July 2012, Phu Giao district had 315 farmsteads on perennial tree growing and animal husbandry under the new criteria of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. These farmsteads have a total area of 4,472 hectares with 2.385 laborers and total revenue estimated at VND694bln a year.
Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Nguyen Tan Binh said that the district has seen farm economy as a fever to successfully implement the national new rural construction program. The district will also attach special importance to promoting services in agricultural production.
Also according to Mr.Binh, the district’s implementation of the new rural construction program now faces difficulties to fulfill criteria on income, labor structure, capital mobilization…But, the district is step by step improving the above difficulties to promote the new rural construction program.
With rural traffic infrastructure improved, public awareness raised plus farm economy on sharp growth, it is sure that Phu Giao will successfully implement the new rural construction program as planned.
