Phu Giao reaches stable economic development

Phu Giao is a district with agricultural production as a strong point. The district’s total annual cultivation area reaches more than 1,071 hectares. As oriented, the district is attaching special importance to industrial development.

Industrial manufacture up 5.12%

In Q1 2016, Phu Giao district-based enterprises operating in the domain of industrial production continued working stably and were proactive in production expansion at market’s demand. Accordingly, the district’s industrial production value was estimated at VND575bln, up 5.12% compared to last year’s corresponding period. Of these, central enterprises achieved VND245.5bln, up 3.65% against last year’s corresponding period. Local enterprises and foreign ones reached VND69.4bln and VND256bln, up 4.83% and 6.22% over last year’s corresponding period, respectively. The district also absorbed VND4.1bln in FDI capital, up 5.13% compared to last year’s corresponding period.

Truong Thanh Hoa, Head of Phu Giao district’s Division of Economics said that under the province’s policy on industrial production development in the northern districts and the Resolution of the district’s 4th Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure, the district has urgently carried out projects on zoning the local industrial parks and compounds. The district has basically fulfilled Tam Lap industrial compound in Tam Lap commune’s Dong Tam hamlet.

The district has also focused on infrastructure development to meet enterprises’ demand of goods transport as well as facilitating trade exchange between localities. Particularly, the district commenced construction of works upgrading streets, namely Ngoc Han, Phan Boi Chau, Quang Trung and 3/2, by the local basic construction capital.

Supply of water ensured

The district’s total annual cultivation area now reaches more than 1.071 hectares. There was a decrease in cultivation area for some kinds of crops in Q1 2016, due to locals’ shift of crops. Thanks to disease prevention done regularly, the total area of crops with diseases went down, despite changeable weather conditions.

According to leaders of the district’s People’s Committee, in Q1 2016, the district organized a training course on how to prevent pestilent insects on rubber and how to grow safe vegetables under Vietgap standards for locals. The province also teamed up with the province’s relevant agencies to guide locals how to deal with diseases on pepper…

In the face of the prolonged El Nino phenomenon, the district’s Division of Economics has coordinated with localities to inspect the current drought and map out methods against the natural disaster to support locals if necessary. Tran Van Chinh, Vice-Chairman of An Binh communal Farmers Society said that till now, the commune has not faced a water shortage for agricultural production yet. But, before the current drought, the commune has seriously carried out the instruction of the district’s People’s Committee in preparing methods to ensure a supply of water for locals’ daily life and production.
