Phu Giao strives to fulfill major economic targets

Despite the impacts from Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Phu Giao district’s Party, government and people completed almost major tasks in the local socio-economic development.

Growth maintained

Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that thanks to the efforts by the local sectors, authorities at all levels, business community and people, the district in 2020 reached positive results in socio-economic development. The district obtained and surpassed 18 out of 21 the set targets.

Particularly, the district’s industrial, home industrial production value in 2020 was estimated at VND4.22trillion, up 11.98% compared to the corresponding period last year. The district’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services was estimated at more than VND7.28trillion, up 19.82% against the same period last year.

The district also continued strengthening the shift of the local economic structure. Together with its strong point in agriculture, as of late 2020, the district put Tan Lap 1 industrial compound into operation with a car tire-making factory having the annual capacity of 900,000 products in operation. The project of Phuoc Hoa industrial compound was also approved by provincial People’s Committee for the 2015-2020 period and it is now underway. District-based remaining industrial compounds, namely Tam Lap 2, Tam Lap 3 and Tam Lap 4 are also under the adjustment for planning…

Upholding strong point in hi-tech agriculture

In 2020, the district’s agro-forestry production value was estimated at more than VND4.48trillion, up 6.8% compared to the same period of last year. The production structure between cultivation and animal husbandry was 52.8% and 47.2%. As of late 2020, the district’s total area for annual trees was more than 2,310 hectares, down 7.91% against the same period, equivalent to 198 hectares. The district’s total area for perennial trees was more than 38,514 hectares, up around 16.17 hectares against the same period last year. Thanks to being proactive in disease prevention plus support solutions, the local farmers bravely expanded their farming land.

Thanks to prevention of diseases in poultry and cattle well realized, the district’s animal husbandry sector in 2020 remained stable. The whole district has so far developed 179 hi-tech agricultural models with a total area of 937 hectares, up 66 compared to the same period last year. The district’s annual agricultural production value has reached around VND75million per hectare while the value for areas growing fruit trees and along Song Be river is VND500million and above. U&I Agricultural Joint Stock Company has also absorbed visitors for learning experience in the field of growing fruit trees and created jobs for the local laborers.

In 2021, according to Mr.Dong, the district will focus on implementing the duel tasks of socio-economic development and Covid-19 prevention-control; further carry out the action programs of the district’s Party Committee in the realization of the Resolution of the 5th local Party congress; maintain the local economic growth; bend on improving the local investment climate, hasten the progress of construction of major works; attach special importance to ensuring social welfare, enhancing the quality of human resources; improve the effectiveness, efficiency of State management apparatus; ensure national security-defence and social order-safety…
