With the ceaseless efforts by the local Party, government and people, Phu Giao, a remote locality of the province with many ethnic minority people has reached a stable and synchronous economic growth.

Upholding the local strong points
Currently, Phu Giao district is home to 341 farms on growing perennial trees and 151 farms on animal husbandry with more than 138,300 pigs, 1.39 million fowls, 248 buffaloes…They have a total area of 3,457.57 hectares with nearly 2,570 laborers. The annual average income of each farm herein is estimated at VND2.9bln.
There are also 5 new-style cooperatives, including 3 cooperatives on agricultural service and 1 on woodwork processing and Phuoc Hoa People’s Credit Fund. In general, they have worked very stably and effectively.
In a bid to support the local farmers, Phu Giao district organized many tentative models on making intensive farming for pepper and rubber trees, breeding mother cows…over the past time. These models have so far brought hi-economic efficiency, contributing to raising the annual average income per capita of the local people to VND34.5mln.
In 2014, the district also carried out and put 20 works on rural traffic and urban rejuvenation of 21,773 km into use with a total investment capital of VND23.774bln. Most works on technical infrastructure and social welfare were implemented on schedule, thereby contributing to promoting the local industrial and home industrial development with 2014’s total value reaching VND2.196trillion, up 12.25% compared to 2013.
Duong Kim Thao, a resident in Phu Giao district’s Phuoc Vinh township said that after national liberation, Phu Giao was a new economic area with difficulties in terms of traffic. Thanks to the State’s attention, the local people have kept their mind on production and business. And now, streets across the district look like very specious, clean and beautiful. Raising locals’ income
Agricultural production still holds an important role for Phu Giao district’s economy with a total area of growing annual and perennial trees of 2,920.56 hectares and 36,067.37 hectares, respectively.
In recent years, the plunge of rubber price has affected the income of many local households. But thanks to being equipped with market information, sci-tech knowledge, the local farmers have got involved in many other agricultural models, ensuring their stable income.
The district has also attached special importance to organizing training courses on sci-tech advancements in cultivation and animal husbandry for the local farmers. In 2014 alone, the district held 26 integrated pest management (IPM) points, 46 training courses on how to plant main trees and how to prevent diseases in them for nearly 1,400 farmers…
In 2015, the district has set targets of reaching the average income per capita of VND36.9mln; obtaining an economic growth of 13%-13.5%. The district’s economic structure will be 40% in agriculture-forestry, 31.9% in industrial manufacture-construction and 28.1% in trade-services. The district will also strive to have additional 2 national standard schools and 4 schools meeting educational standards. The ratio of the local poor households under the province’s poverty line will reduce to 1.2%.
Especially, the district’s communes of Tam Lap, An Binh, An Long, Phuoc Sang, An Linh and An Thai will try to fulfill their program on new rural construction by the end of the year.
