Plan developed to ensure the supply of Tet goods

In addition to retail businesses ensuring the supply of goods, localities in the province are also actively sourcing and implementing programs to stabilize the market, stockpiling essential goods at traditional markets, and registering price stabilization points in order to best meet the shopping needs during the year-end term.

Proactive sources

Up to date, 9 districts, towns, and cities in the province have completed the plan for stockpiling goods for the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, ensuring the satisfaction of consumer demands. Le Minh Phuong, Head of the Economic Division of Tan Uyen city, assessed that despite market price fluctuations in recent months, overall purchasing power has recovered and grown, with the city's trade and service value estimated to increase by 23.27% in 2023. From now until the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday, purchasing power is expected to continue to rise.

According to Ms. Le Minh Phuong, Tan Uyen City has allocated a reserve plan with a total value of goods for Tet of 13.2 billion VND. This includes nearly 74 tons of grains, over 84 tons of processed food, and nearly 81 tons of fresh food. In addition, the local authorities are also planning to arrange approximately 103 stalls to meet the shopping demands during the Lunar New Year at 7 markets in the area. "Currently, we are working with participating businesses such as Co.opmart, Go & Big C!, WinMart, to coordinate plans with industrial zones and clusters regarding timing, locations, and products for the Lunar New Year, with effective solutions to stimulate consumption and stabilize prices," said Le Minh Phuong.

Similarly, Truong Cong Thach, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Thuận An City, stated that the city has a relatively large area and a dense population. The local authorities are actively implementing plans to stockpile essential goods to facilitate convenient shopping for the residents, especially essential items with a total value of nearly 44 billion Vietnamese dong. In addition, Thuận An City will launch consumer stimulus programs such as organizing mobile sales programs and stabilizing market sales points in locations of densely residing workers.

According to Truong Cong Thach, the important thing to note this year is that the selling time will be coordinated and organized by localities and businesses through specialized transport vehicles, with announcements of locations and flexible selling hours to meet the shopping needs of the people, especially in densely populated areas and among workers. Localities are inviting businesses to choose selling locations, ensuring food safety, traffic safety, and public order security.

Not only these two localities, but also districts, towns, and cities such as Thu Dau Mot, Di An, Ben Cat, Bac Tan Uyen, Bau Bang, Dau Tieng, and Phu Giao have plans to stockpile goods to ensure the demand for shopping during the period before, during, and after the 2024 Lunar New Year holiday.

Widespreading supply

According to Phan Thi Khanh Duyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, besides mobilizing and selecting production and business units to actively participate in the price stabilization program, the department also proactively implements price stabilization measures from localities to limit abnormal market fluctuations such as scarcity of goods and local price surges in the days before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, especially for essential commodities. The province's plan to stabilize the market for essential commodities in 2024 aims to ensure a balance between supply and demand, meet the consumer needs of the people, stabilize market prices, and fulfill social welfare tasks. This year, 17 businesses are participating in the market stabilization program, with reserved commodities ensuring quality and stable prices ranging from 5-10% lower than market prices.

On the other hand, the organization of the distribution system from provinces to districts, towns, and cities through mobile sales or Tet market sessions, bringing Vietnamese products to rural areas, industrial zones, and clusters to meet the needs of the people and workers. The essential goods to serve the people during, before, and after the Lunar New Year of 2024, including staple foods, processed foods, and fresh foods, have a total value of over 11,602 billion VND (excluding fuel and medicine). The Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to coordinate with relevant sectors and localities to closely monitor market developments, ensuring sufficient supply of essential goods, especially during peak periods, to prevent shortages and price hikes.
