Plan on 2016-2020 socio-economic development, an important pace for the local forthcoming success

Provincial People’s Committee has just approved the local draft plan on socio-economic development for 2016-2020 period. This is seen as an important pace for the local development process in the next five years.

Hallmarks

According to provincial Department of Planning and Investment, the whole province reached stable growth with a lot of successes and hallmarks in the 2011-2015 period. The province’s annual economic growth was estimated at 13.1%. Of these, the agro-forestry-fisheries sector grew by 1.9%; while construction-industrial production by 8.5% and services by 20.9%.

The province’s economic structure made a shift toward the growth of industry, service and agriculture with respective proportions of 60%, 37.3% and 2.7%. The average GDP per capita here amounted to VND72.7million a year. Noticeably, the province’s industrial production value obtained a growth of 15.5%. The province’s total amount of social investment and FDI capital increased by 18%. The province also achieved growth of 22% and 20.4% in total retail sales of commodities, services and export turnover, respectively.

The province’s total State budget collection over the past five years reached more than VND145.6trillion, representing an annual surge of 12%.

The province’s social welfare was also ensured over the past five years. The whole province has so far had no more poor households under the province’s poverty line for 2011-2015 period. During the period, the province annually generated jobs for more than 45,000 laborers and there were 70% of laborers trained. The province’s task on education-training was also well realized in association with the local human resource development plan. The rate of public schools in the province meeting national standards reached 62.4%. Regarding healthcare sector, the province had an average of 27 hospital beds per 10,000 people. The average floor-space per person in the province was 23.5 square meters…

Nguyen Thanh Truc, Director of Planning and Investment said that thanks to the integral efforts by sectors, authorities at all levels, business community and locals, Binh Duong reaped comprehensive results in aspects, helping it become one of the country’s top localities in the renewal cause.

Assuring sustainable development

To further achieve breakthroughs in development, improving people’s lives, provincial People’s Committee has just adopted the local plan on socio-economic development for 2016-2020 period with a focus on raising the quality of growth, increasing the size of economy, ensuring sustainable and logical growth in the new period. The province will strengthen the shift of the local economic structure in association with urbanization towards giving priority to services supporting industrial manufacture and hi-quality ones. Under the plan, the province will further promote industrial production with in-depth development; enhance the productivity of hi-tech industries and their products’ quality. The province will also continue closely following a target of developing it into a centrally-controlled municipality by 2020; perfect a connected socio-economic infrastructure system; accelerate the local process of industrialization and modernization towards synchronism and civilization.

Besides, the province will further reform administrative procedures to create a favorable investment climate, promoting business and production. The province needs to well settle social issues; enhance people’s spiritual and material lives; ensure political security and social order while raising the effectiveness of foreign relations and international integration for sustainable development.

To achieve the set targets for the new period, the province will speed up restructuring of industrial manufacture; foster industries with high added value, support ones and gradually raise the localization rate of products; give priority to logistics services…Regarding agricultural production, the province will develop hi-quality agricultural zones and promote animal husbandry models with hi-tech application. The province will also mobilize all resources for infrastructure construction to serve the local targets on socio-economic development.

Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that during the 2016-2020 period, sectors and localities need to closely follow plans and programs of provincial People’s Committee and Party Committee, thereby mobilizing all resources for the local socio-economic development; especially associate socio-economic development with investment attraction, infrastructure improvement to further maintain growth in the coming time. Major tasks of the province in the coming time are to improve the local investment climate, maintain the local political security, social order to further enhance people’s quality of life.

In the 2016-2020 period, the province will strive to reach an economic structure with 63.2% of industry, 26% in services and 3% in agriculture. The rate of the local urbanization will obtain 82% and there will be 100% of people in use of electricity and clean water, 100% of industrial parks in operation with waste water treatment systems meeting environmental standards. The province will absorb more than US$7billion in FDI capital and annually generate jobs for 45,000 laborers.
