In the overall planning on local agro-forestry and fishery development till 2020, many targets of hi-tech agriculture development are set out and considered as a breakthrough.Basic advantages
The local agricultural industry accounted for small density in the overall of local economic structure but the local agriculture’s total value still reached a high rate annually. The locality has formed up specialized regions of orchard and rubber plantation whilst farmstead economy has emerged strongly. As of the late 2009, main kinds of trees in the locality comprise rubber (126,070ha), orchard (4,768ha) and rice, vegetables, pepper… as well as ornamental tree, flower.
Animal husbandry sector has also reached a fair growth, creating a significant change in production value. The animal husbandry sector under the industrial and farmstead forms has played a crucial role, deciding rapid and sustainable development of local agricultural industry.
As of the late 2009, many main kinds of species in the province consist of cows, pigs, poultry and goats. Meanwhile, forestry sector has won an average rise of 4.08% per year with the production value of VND108bil in 2009, accounting for 0.98% of total value of agro-forestry and fishery sector. As for fishery industry, the locality has reaped 5,442 tons of fisheries in the past year.
The local agro-forestry and fishery industry has created a basic impetus for the future development with nearly 30% of trained laborers.
Breakthroughs of hi-tech agriculture
A planning on local agro-forestry and fishery development till 2020 aims at building an overall and sustainable agriculture towards modernization and urbanization.
Realizing the importance of hi-tech agriculture, the local administration has licensed some hi-tech agricultural parks and issued incentive policies for investors. Some projects with top priorities consist of An Thai, Hieu Liem, Thai Hoa and An Dien hi-tech agricultural parks. Besides, urban agriculture will be also paid attention in the Southern areas of the province. The projects aim at creating green environment in urban areas and placing jobs for laborers.
In addition, development of orchards and animal husbandry will be focused in the future.
