In the first nine months of 2010, Binh Duong province’s export import activities still gained positive growth amid the world’s economy facing difficulties and challenges. Domestic investment sector achieved US$1.183bln in export turnover, a year-on-year increase of 6.3% while foreign-funded sector’s export value was nearly US$4.48bln, a year-on-year increase of 27.4%. Also during the time, the province’s import value reached nearly US$4.54bln, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%. Estimatedly, the province’s trade surplus reached more than US$1.125bln…
Provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) said that the province’s export growth was due to export market expanded. Moreover, the province’s key export products like woodwork, garment, footwear…continued signing big export contracts. Woodwork industry in the first nine months of 2010 reached more than US$930mln in export turnover, a year-on-year increase of 9.9% or 16.4% of the province’s total export turnover.
Apparel and textile industry is still the export key industry of Binh Duong as well as the whole country.
Apparel and textile industry’s export turnover also gained high growth with nearly US$900mln, a year-on-year increase of 26.2% or 10.6% of the province’s export turnover. The industry’s main export markets are still U.S, Japan, EU, Taiwan and South Korea. Electronic industry also achieved US$167mln in export turnover, up 5.7% against last year’s same period. According to provincial DoIT, the European Union (EU) has decided to end its imposition of anti-dumping duties on Vietnam’s bicycles exported to EU countries as from July 2010, which is one of the positive signs for the province’s export industry. This will contribute to removing Vietnamese bicycle businesses’ difficulties and also be the opportunity for them to have equal competitiveness in the European market…
Although the province’s export sector saw positive signs of the growth, its growth has not yet achieved the projection. The total export turnover of five key export commodities herein only rose by 7.12%. The province also saw high growth of import value by 22% compared to the same period last year. To ensure 2010’s export targets, the industry and trade sector must take more measures to promote export growth. Businesses also need to further uphold their advantages to expand export market while taking initiative in having trade defence measures to maintain their growth and raise export value. In terms of import sector, the Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to soon issue technical regulations to limit the import of unnecessary products…
