Effort of investing in infrastructure facilities to develop logistics service has over the past years contributed importantly to spur growth of Binh Duong trade-service. However, the service industry has not been yet exploited its potential and advantage.
Initial achievements
After 2 years of launching the provincial People’s Committee’s Plan No.3905/KH-UBND dated Dec. 28, 2012 on developing logistics service in the province for the period of 2011-2015 and vision till 2020, the locality has thus far reached remarkable achievements, especially investment and expansion of traffic infrastructure and warehouse, port and supportive service and more.
By measures of promoting socialization form, the provincial administration has facilitated social sources’ mobilization for investing in logistics field. Therefore, Thuan An, Di An, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat towns and Thu Dau Mot city have strongly developed with hundreds of enterprises inside and outside of the country, helping them spur production and business.
According to Pham Van Xo, chairman of Binh Duong Import-Export Association said that Binh Duong now attracts numerous enterprises involving in logistics field. The strong investment lies in advantage position of Binh Duong province. As one of strong developing locality of logistics, Thuan An town has thus far absorbed 36 enterprises involving in logistics, many of them implementing package service with the large scope and investment capital. They include Mapletree Co.Ltd. of Singapore, YCH-Protrade logistics center, Southern logistics company, An Son port and more.Truong Cong Thach, vice head of Thuan An town economy division said that in the period of 2011-2014, thanks to investment in traffic network in the locality, area of logistics has showed a strong change. Accordingly, many key works have been launched in line with local development, including My Phuoc – Tan Van, An Phu roundabout, Ba Lua bridge, An Phu – Binh Chuan road and more. Development of traffic infrastructure has facilitated logistics’ development in the province.
In order to develop logistics in large scale, Binh Duong administration built Tan Van logistics center on the area of 37,52ha. Until now, the project perfected warehouse, office and is under operation.
Besides, the local authority perfected and expanded An Son port in Thuan An town with capacity of 2,200 tons.
Advantages of development
Though local logistics field is under strong development, it has yet to match available potential. To promote advantage of logistics, Pham Van Xo added that logistics enterprises should work with together to create competition on the market. Besides, it is necessary to ensure traffic infrastructure for development of logistics field.
Truong Thanh Nhan of the provincial department of Trade and Industry revealed that Binh Duong encourages enterprises to invest in projects of logistics service at industrial parks and compounds. Accordingly, the State supports traffic and waterway infrastructure while relevant agencies facilitate to enterprises’ investment as well as offer preferential policies for enterprises.
At present, key projects have facilitated more advantages to develop logistics. They projects consist of Pham Ngoc Thach road, streets in Tan Uyen town, especially My Phuoc-Tan Van road. This road will contribute importantly to development of logistics service.
