The 2015 Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday will come in about more than two months, but province-based enterprises have urgently prepared commodities to meet public demand. It is predicted that there will be adequate supply of Tet commodities with stable price.
Price stabilization committed
Co.opmart Binh Duong supermarket is finishing a plan to prepare nearly 2,200 tons of price-stabilized goods worth around VND45bln for the approaching Tet holiday. They include more than 320 tons of poultry and cattle meat, 44 tons of processed food, 1,200 tons of fruits and vegetables…

Products with stabilized price at Co.opMart Binh Duong supermarket
Trinh Thi Mai Han, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Binh Duong supermarket said that her supermarket has been advanced capital to stockpile 9 groups of essential goods for Tet, comprising of rice, sugar, cooking oil, processed food, eggs, seafood, fruits, vegetables…So far, the supermarket has fulfilled its plan on stockpiling Tet goods. It is also expected to coordinate with providers to offer a 10%-15% discount on some products on the days near Tet.
Similarly, Pham Thi Kim Van, Director of Vinatex Binh Duong supermarket said that her supermarket has planned to prepare Tet commodities with stabilized price. They still focuses on consumer products and fresh food like meat, fruits, vegetables, rice, sugar, cooking oil…
Many other supermarkets, namely Big C, CitiMart…have also fulfilled preparations for Tet goods.
Adequate supply
Till now, province-based markets and stores have prepared goods for the upcoming Tet holiday. Small traders at Thu Dau Mot market said that this year’s consumer trend has changed towards the reduction in quantity and attached special importance to products with high quality and prestigious trademarks. That’s reason why small trades have to deliberate on stockpiling Tet commodities…
Also according to small traders at the market, there will be adequate supply of goods during the upcoming Tet holiday and prices will be kept stable. Many small traders have also taken initiative in contacting farmsteads and suppliers to ensure adequate supply of goods for Tet. With the above things, it is hoped that the prices of Tet goods remain unchanged.
Purchasing power not high
According to Mrs.Han, purchasing power during the upcoming Tet holiday is expected to increase by 15%-20% compared to that of the 2014 Tet season. The increase also only focuses on essential commodities like confectionary, food…
To increase their competitiveness and sell out stockpiled goods, businesses have to seek ways to stimulate demand and absorb purchasing power. It is forecasted that essential goods during Tet will fluctuate very little because their supply is very adequate. Economy still faces difficulties, so people further tighten spending. Therefore, purchasing power will fail to reach a sudden surge.
In fact, continuing making the province’s price stabilization program is very necessary to maintain a balance of supply and demand of goods, especially essential ones that have affected the lives of the local people during Tet.
