Thuan An town has actively implemented the 2016 price stabilization program, contributing to ensuring a supply and demand balance of goods before, during and after the 2016 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.
Program implemented till March, 2016
Truong Cong Thach, Deputy Head of Thuan An town’s Economic Division said that under provincial People’s Committee’s price stabilization plan for 2016 and the Ministry of Industry-Trade’s Circular No.1572/SCT-QLMT on setting up plans for the 2016 Tet festival, Thuan An town’s People’s Committee has implemented the local price stabilization program in the last months of 2015 and on the occasion of Tet in association with the “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” campaign. It has contributed to balancing supply and demand of commodities, especially essential ones, promoting production-business and ensuring social welfare in the locality.

The town’s price stabilization program before, during and after Tet is implemented from Dec.2015 to Mar.31, 2016. The program focuses primarily on essential items such as rice, cooking oil, seasoning power, sugar, instant noodle, confectionary, soft drink, milk, processed food, fresh food, egg…Till now, town-based supermarkets have forwarded the program.
To Nguyen Chi Cuong, Director of Lotte Mart Binh Duong, his supermarket has mobilized VND81.23bln for the price stabilization program in 2016. Of the total figure, VND21.01bln has been spent on implementing the program before, during and after Tet. There is a guarantee on quality, food safety and hygiene with enough supply for commodities at the supermarket to meet customers’ demand, especially on the occasion of Tet.
All items under the program at the supermarket are sold at 5%-10% lower than the market price. The supermarket is also launching promotional programs named “Tet is approaching” with 848 products and “Shopping for Tet” with 387 products at locals’ demand for shopping on Tet.
Guaranteeing customers’ rights and interests
As planned, Metro Binh Duong will mobilize VND264bln for the price stabilization program in 2016, in which VND77.3bln is for the period before, during and after Tet. The program is implemented in 2 places, including Thuan Giao ward and An Son commune.
The town’s functional agencies have actively taken measures to well realize the local price stabilization plan, curbing inflation before, during and after Tet. Mr.Thach added that the town’s Division of Economics has kept a close watch on Tet goods market for timely solutions; teamed up with relevant agencies to strengthen inspection on food safety and hygiene, price registration, declaration and posting; opportunely prevent the trade of banned commodities, fake and poor quality ones…to protect customers’ rights and interests.
