Prices of many commodities remain stable

The prices of some commodities greatly affecting the commodity market like gas, petrol have continuously decreased in April and early May. Diseases in cattle and poultry now get complicated with purchasing power that is low while supply is very abundant…All have helped the prices of food and many other commodities continue being stable in the coming time.

The prices of gourd, bitter melon…at the Phu Hoa market, on May 5, decreased by 20%-30% compared to the previous month. In addition to carrot, tomato…transported from other localities seeing increasing by VND3,000-VND5,000 in price compared to the previous week, the prices of the remaining vegetables and fruits at the TDM market remain stable. Cucumber is now between VND10,000 and VND12,000 a kilo, a reduction of VND3,000 while various fresh vegetables are sold at VND18,000 a kilo, down by VND2,000. According to small traders at the market, the prices of various vegetables have decreased by around 15% compared to the previous month.

The prices of many commodities remain stable

The prices of fresh food like pork, beef, seafood, poultry meat have remained stable at most markets in the province. Pork prices are between VND80,000 and VND85,000 for a kilo of half fat and half lean meat; VND110,000 for a kilo of pork chop. Beef prices now still stand at VND260,000 a kilo for beef fillet…

Similarly, the prices of various fruits such as rambutan, Hoa Lo mango, dragon fruit, durian…are very cheap of between VND35,000 and VND40,000 a kilo. But, rice prices see a slight increase by 1%-3% with between VND12,000-VND12,500 a kilo for normal rice and between VND17,000 and VND17,500 a kilo for “Nang huong cho dao” rice.

Fertilizer prices have also reduced by VND100-VND300 a kilo. Particularly, the Phu My urea fertilizer is between VND10,300 and VND10,400 a kilo. DAP fertilizer imported from China is sold at VND14,000 a kilo.

Due to the low demand, the prices of building materials remain stable. According to provincial Department of Finance, there is a great supply of cement with the annual output of 70 million-75 million tons while the demand for this kind of material building is only around 50 million tons a year.

Ngo Thi Anh Duong, deputy director of the Price Statistics Department under the General Statistics Office said that the consumer price index (CPI) in April increased slightly by 0.02% against the previous month. Despite a long holiday in early May, the commodity market has not got animated because of food, consumer goods and materials having low purchasing power. The Price Management Department said that there are many elements leading to the decrease of CPI in May. Thus, market price will be not fluctuated greatly during a long time.
