Prices of milk products on rise

Domestic customers have faced the new wave of price increases by 5%-10% of some milk products, especially liquid and condensed ones…

Last weekend, TDM town-based milk shops have begun to increase the selling prices of some liquid, condensed and power milk products by 2%-5%. Particularly, Dutch Lady’s sweetened condensed milk is sold at VND19,000 per 380g can, an increase of VND1,000; fresh milk is VND216,000 per 180ml carton, rising by VND2,000. Meanwhile, the price of Milo liquid milk has increased from VND195,000 per carton to VND210,000 per carton.

Friso and Enfa powdered milk products will also see the price increase by 7% in the next few days. The prices of various Friso powdered milk products will be raised by VND5,000 per can, Friso 3 will increase to VND315,000 per 900g can; Enfa A+3 will also increase to VND545,000 per can….According to milk agents, the wave of the milk price increases has come from the increase in input material prices…

Therefore, there needs to be more efforts in perfecting the management mechanism for milk prices. According to an official of provincial Department of Finance, the local functional agencies have found it hard to control all the prices of milk products. The result about the department’s inspection of province-based milk companies indicated that 19 out of 21 units as distributors of Vinamilk, Dutch Lady…have well realized the regulations on the selling prices.

For long-term strategy, the functional agencies of localities nationwide need to have regular cooperation to be able to curb and control the prices of milk products in the domestic market.
