Index of industrial production (IIP) of the first 6 months 2020 was estimated to increase by 6.4% over the same period last year. In which, processing and manufacturing industries continued to have a good growth rate. These are robust motivations for the province to achieve the goal of general industry growth plan.

Since the beginning of May, Binh Duong has moved, along with the country, to a new stage, in which 2 missions were carried out at the same time: To control, fight against the Covid-19, and enhance, recover socio-economic development. The socio-economic situation in the province has been gradually better and had many good transitions.
While many countries around the world are still impacted by the Covid-19, it has affected Vietnamese economy in general and Binh Duong province in particular. Therefore, in order to achieve the socio-economic growth target of the year 2020, in which there is the completion of capital growth milestone from 8.6-8.8% and total State budget revenues of VND62,200 billion, there are still numerous difficulties and challenges.
However, economic sectors and industries are gradually recovering the growth, contribute to local budget revenue of the first and last 6 months of the year. Accordingly, total State budget revenue of the province over the first 6 months 2020 was VND 29,300 billion, reaching 47% targets assigned by the Prime Minister and provincial People's Council, up 2% over the same period last year. In which, the domestic turnover of VND 21,800 billion reached 48% targets, up to 4% over the same period last year.
Provincial industries continue to grow. The Index of industrial production (IIP) of the first 6 months increased 6.4% over the same period. This is the lowest increase compared to the same period of the last 4 years; but compared to other provinces, cities in the region and the country, this is a good growth and has many positive signals. Especially processing, manufacturing industries gained a growth rate of 6.38% over the same period. This is the industry that plays a key role stimulating the overall growth of the whole industry, accounting for 98.9% of total industrial production value. Among level-2 industries, some sectors have a 6-month production index that is higher than the same period last year, such as: Food processing 7.87%; Print, copy 12.04%; medicines, chemical and medicinal herbs 12.01%; Products from rubber and plastics 8.91%; Metal 9.84%; Products from prefabricated metals (except machinery and equipment) 7.64%; Electronic products, computers and optical products 9.98%; Electrical equipment 6.44%; Repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment 13.32%...
However, some sectors had a lower increase, thus affecting the overall index: Textile 2.31%; garment 4.02%; leather footwear 1.58%, wood processing 3.82%, these are the key export sectors accounting for high proportion in the provincial total export turnover.
In order to stimulate industrial production, in recent years, Binh Duong has implemented many programs and policies with strong impacts to support enterprises in developing industrial production and supporting industries, implement policies to support the development of key industrial products, assist enterprises in exploiting and expanding consumption markets, creating output sources for production activities.
Industry and Trade leaders said that in recent years, the province has implemented policies to support the development of a group of key industrial products for the province; focused on developing industry in depth to gradually create branded and competitive products on the market. In addition, good effects of institutional reforms, preferential policies, investment attraction and effective utilization of opportunities from free trade agreements open up many opportunities for manufacturing enterprises in the province.
