In recent years, to improve the quality of products and create a comfortable working environment for employees, leaders of Nhat Tuong Company (Thuan An Town), specializing in wooden tables and chairs, has employed advanced productivity and quality improvement tools. Bùi Kim Oanh, Director of the company, said that the application of this tool helped the company reduce the amount of waste in production process, reduce moving for workers by using wheel pallets to move materials, finished products, and replace some of hand-made tasks by machines. This greatly reduces production cost for the company.
At Cuong Phat Company, the application of 5S tools, kaizen (continuous improvement) ... has saved an average expense of VND 2.5 billion/year. In addition, through the application of kaizen, the company has improved the kiln, reclaimed land from sludge; annually saves more than VND600 million of baked raw materials, nearly VND26 million per month for raw materials production costs.
According to Le Trung Thu, Hanoi Production - Service - Import - Export JSC - Binh Duong Branch, their factory in Uyen Hung Industrial Zone (Tan Uyen Township) has applied 5S and kaizen tools. Since then, the company has limited defective product, eliminated broken cashew nuts, chips... reducing production cost, saving an average of more than VND300 million per year.
Ms. Oanh said that after applying the 5S productivity tool, the company's production has made significant improvements. Accordingly, 1 hour of machine use for product rubbing is 3-4 times faster than handmade, therefore productivity has increased, helping to complete products faster. "In 2016, the percentage of impurities in cashew nuts and pepper products survived, customers also complained the company. After the company applied kaizen tools, impurities rate is zero, thereby improving the quality of products and strengthen company reputation. Specifically, the number of orders of cleaning and sterilizing products increased by 15%", Mr. Thu said.
Nguyen Binh Phuoc, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology, said that the improvement of productivity and product quality of enterprises in the province in recent years, especially small and medium enterprises, have been effective. At enterprises, production costs are significantly reduced, businesses save raw materials, improve productivity and quality of products and increase their competitiveness on the market.
Recently, the provincial People's Committee approved the project "Improving Productivity and Product Quality of Small and Medium Enterprises in Binh Duong Province 2017-2020" (Decision No. 2943 / QD-UBND dated 25 Oct 2017). The project’s objective is to improve productivity and product quality of enterprises in the province, based on the application of technical criteria, standards, advanced management system, tools to improve productivity and product quality; heightening enterprise’s awareness of productivity and product quality improvement in production.
