Change in thought and action

The “good farmer in production and business” emulation movement were strongly promoted among farmers in the province over the past time. Between 2011 and 2015, there were 37,000 farming households winning the title of good farmer at all levels, making active contributions to the local rural development.

Currently, agricultural models in the province continue reaching a stable growth. Along with the State’s support in terms of capital and sci-tech, many local farming farmers have bravely changed to developing large-scale farms from small models. The whole province is now home to 1,068 farms with a total area of more than 10,700 hectares together with 24 cooperatives with more than 600 members and 122 cooperative groups with over 1,350 members.

The local farmers have also actively helped each other in economic development. Since 2014, the total level of subsidy for the local farmers from organizations and individuals has amounted to VND20bln.

Noticeably, many farmers have built up renowned trademarks like Lai Thieu mangosteen, Thanh Thuy green-skin pomelo, Hieu Liem tangerine…As a veteran in Bau Bang district’s Long Nguyen commune, Nguyen Thanh Thuy has successfully made a trademark of “Thanh Thuy green-skin pomelo”. Through market chains, she supplies around 200-300 tons of clean pomeloes for domestic customers every year…

Breakthrough

Together with large-scale and modern models, hi-tech based agricultural production is seen as a great progress of the local farmers with a total farming area of more than 860 hectares. After four-year development, An Thai hi-tech agricultural park has implemented a lot of cultivation models applied modern technologies from Israel, Japan and South Korea with the quality of plants meeting standards of VietGap, GlobalGap…The hi-tech agricultural park’s model of growing rock melons in the net house system can reach the average revenue of around VND1bln per hectare per crop and the average profit of more than VND500mln per crop. The model is capable of reaching 3 crops a year.

An Thai hi-tech agricultural park has also carried out many other models, including those of planting aubergines,  bananas for export with the average profit of more than VND300mln and VND400mln per hectare, respectively…

Nguyen Tan Binh, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DoARD) said that thanks to their efforts in applying sci-tech advancements into production and seeking new ways, the local farmers have contributed to raising the value of agricultural products on a hectare of farming land to around VND90mln. The province has also focused on fostering agricultural fields; organized tours to effective agricultural models; helped farmers in economic development…, contributing to the local sustainable agricultural development.

Upholding achievements done over the past time, farmers in the province continue making efforts to build up effective models, applying sci-tech advancements into production…, aiming to create a breakthrough on agricultural production in the new context.
