Provincial People’s Committee yesterday morning held its periodic session in March, 2018 with focus on reviewing the local socio-economic development, national defense-security in Q1, 2018 and defining major tasks in the coming time. Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee chaired the session.
The province’s index of industrial production in Q1, 2018 was estimated at surging 7.43% compared to the same period of last year. Particularly, mining industry grew by 4.61%; processing industry by 7.75%; production and distribution of power, gas and water by 4.73%...The output of some industrial products like footwear, plastics, woodwork…in the province gained high growth at 5.8%, 5.8%, 6.7%..., respectively.

Province-based industrial parks (Ips) also reached 32,3 hectares of land, workshops for lease; absorbed US$411million in FDI capital or 84% of FDI capital amount flowing into the province over the past three months, with a total revenue of around US$6billion. The province continues implementing some new Ips and expanded the old ones while strengthening investment attraction into Ips.
Over the past three months, the province’s total investment capital for the whole society’s development was estimated at more than VND14.5trillion. The province also disbursed VND378billion in public investment capital or 5.1% of the year’s plan.
In addition, the whole province lured US$489million in FDI capital with 38 new projects and 15 extra-ones together with more than VND11.6trillion in domestic capital. The province’s total State collection was estimated at VND12.2trillion. In terms of credit, the province’s total capital mobilized was estimated at VND170trillion…
The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services during the period was estimated at VND45.5trillion. The local functional agencies also paid more attention to market control, contributing to stabilizing the market and ensuring the quality of products…
Giving good care for people’s lives
On the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2018, Binh Duong mobilized many resources to take care of the spiritual and material lives of policy beneficiaries, armed forces, workers and poor people. Particularly, the whole province mobilized around VND442.5billion from many different resources to realize social welfare activities, build 6 gratitude houses and upgrade 12 “great unity” houses. Businesses also coordinated with trade unions at all levels of the province took care of workers on Tet. Upon this, most laborers came back to work after Tet as stipulated.
In Q1, 2018, the province well realized public healthcare; paid attention to ensuring food safety and hygiene; organized cultural-sports activities in celebration of the Lunar New Year 2018, the 88th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3)….The province’s festivals, including the annual Thien Hau Lady festival, were also organized as stipulated at people’s demand of enjoying cultural life.
Mr.Liem said that provincial People’s Committee in Q1, 2018 bent on drastically carrying out the resolutions and instructions of the Government, Prime Minister, provincial Party Committee and People’s Council on socio-economic development, national defence-security; paid attention to instructing the implementation of tasks serving people to welcome Tet; urged sectors and authorities at all levels of the province to carry out tasks after Tet. Upon this, the province’s socio-economic performance gained positive results. The local political security, social order and safety continued being maintained.
He emphasized that in order to successfully realize targets on socio-economic development in 2018, along with regular tasks in Q2, sectors and authorities at all levels of the province need to have close State budget management; further improve the local investment climate, support business; monitor over the situation of businesses’ operational situation, opportunely dealing with their obstacles…
