Province makes efforts to stabilize prices at year end

The province’s program to stabilize market prices during and after the Tet festival 2010 has brought substantial efficiency.  Under the program, participating businesses got VND40bln in non-interest rate loan to reserve essential commodities at the local people’s demand for shopping during the Tet festival 2010. Although the prices of some commodities at the local markets are now on rise, there remains unchangeable at these businesses.

Along with stabilization in prices, these businesses got involved in mobile goods selling in 12 remote communes of the province’s northern districts with a total value of nearly VND4.1bln. There were also some successes in the task of controlling and stabilizing prices over the past time. Particularly, provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) took measures to have close cooperation with relevant agencies to inspect and control over market prices, food hygiene and safety, quality measurement…, contributing to stabilizing market prices.

For the above program getting better results, the province needs to strength inspection over implementation of the commitments of participating businesses, closely control market prices, check supply-demand balance for various Tet commodities to take timely measures against the sudden scarcity of commodities…, according to Vuong Van Nam, head of the Price Control Division under provincial Department of Finance.

In a bid to stabilize market prices and meet consumption demand at year end, provincial DoIT has just implemented a plan on Tet commodities worth more than VND227bln. Provincial DoIT has also put forward five groups of measures with six essential commodities. Accordingly, provincial DoIT will regularly update information about market prices and essential commodities, helping provincial People’s Committee have timely policies to stabilize market prices; encourage businesses to take part in the program of bringing Vietnamese goods to countryside.

Apartedly, provincial DoIT will strength inspection and supervision over the transportation and trade of banned and illegally-imported commodities, violations pertaining price control at supermarkets, trade centers, especially traditional markets; inspect and encourage participating businesses to work harder on reserving commodities and take initiative in creating sources of essential goods to well realize the policy to curb prices…
