Province-based supermarkets and retailers have prepared an adequate supply of commodities for the 2015 Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, contributing to stabilizing the local market price.
Total value of goods under price stabilization estimated at over VND880bln
Nguyen Trung Truc who is in charge of Vinatex supermarket chain’s goods under the price stabilization program said that the supermarket chain’s preparation for goods with stabilized price for the upcoming Tet holiday has been completed with a total value of around VND750bln. In Binh Duong, the total value of these goods prepared by the supermarket chain is estimated at VND25bln, up 10% compared to the previous year. With such situation, the prices of poultry and cattle meat, poultry eggs will continue being stable.

According to Vo Ngoc Anh Hoa, representative of Citimart Binh Duong, her supermarket will add some kinds of soft drink, beer and confectionary into the list of 9 groups of essential commodities under this year’s price stabilization program. The total value of the supermarket’s commodities this year is estimated at around VND92bln.
Other supermarket chains, namely Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, Number One, have also planned to prepare commodities under the price stabilization program, up 20% against 2013.
Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that province-based enterprises have fulfilled their plans to maintain a balance of supply and demand of Tet goods. Accordingly, the total amount of essential goods like fresh food, confectionary…stockpiled by 12 enterprises participating the province’s price stabilization program is worth more than VND880bln. Of these, the total amount of those reserved for the two months before, during and after the 2015 Tet holiday is more than VND406bln.
Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that there has been a large amount of Tet foodstuff stockpiled, including 1,000 tons of beef and buffalo meat, nearly 5,400 tons of pork, nearly 700 tons of poultry meat and over 12 millions of poultry eggs…
As planned, from now to the Tet holiday, participating enterprises will also organize 82 mobile sales locations in remote and rural communes, industrial compounds and parks in the province…
Price of essential commodities stabilized
The prices of essential goods at mobile sales locations in the province are ensured not to increase for the two months before, during and after the 2015 Tet holiday.
Enterprises participating the province’s price stabilization program will also launch a lot of promotional programs and organize lucky draws with valuable prizes. On the days near Tet, they will offer great discounts for essential goods like poultry eggs, poultry and cattle meat, processed food, seafood, fruits, vegetables, fresh food…
The local functional agencies will closely tighten control over goods prices, supply and demand of Tet goods. They will also not increase the prices of goods under the price stabilization program that are still 10%-15% lower than market prices.
Thus, the program’s price stabilization program for essential goods will begin from December 2014 to March 31, 2015 and then it will be further implemented for the rest of 2015. “Provincial Department of Industry and Trade has asked for participating enterprises to seriously carry out listed prices and planned to realize the price stabilization program, contributing to stabilizing the 2015 Tet goods market”, Mr.Binh said.
