Under provincial plan on adjustment of agro-forestry and fisheries production till 2020, there is an increase in the number of poultry and cattle, due to disadvantages on land, competitiveness... But, the province’s pig herd will develop strongly with 620,000 heads in 2020 and the figure will amount to 650,000 in 2025. This development is defined in Phu Giao, Dau Tieng and North Tan Uyen districts. As of late 2016, the province’s total herd of pigs was 549,730 with the average growth of the 2005-2016 period at 6.11% per year.
Consulting units said that pig is a main domestic animal of the province and locals have lots of experience and techniques in breeding this kind of domestic animal. In fact, the province developed many hi-tech pig-breeding models over the past time. The province in the coming time needs to increase the amount of pig meat to meet domestic market’ demand as well as aiming at export. But, the province also needs to deliberate conditions on land for this breeding while minimizing risks on environmental pollution…
