Agriculture with stable growth
Thanks to the efforts by authorities at all levels and farmers, Binh Duong’s agricultural sector last year reached stable growth. Particularly, agricultural production value rose by 3.9% compared to that of 2011; the average output value of a hectare was VND73mln a year, the ratio of forest and perennial tree coverage reached 56.6%.

such as rubber, cattle-poultry meat, eggs…increased by 2%-9% in output. As of
late 2012, the province’s perennial tree-growing area was more than 140,000
hectares, including nearly 132,000 hectares of rubber tree. There were also
476,000 pigs, up 6.43% and 3.4 mln of various fowls, up 4.75%...
In addition, sci-tech transfer was implemented effectively. Many farmers bravely applied new sci-tech advancements in agricultural production to enhance productivity, quality and value of agricultural products. The above results contributed to improving the lives of the local farmers. The ratio of poor farmers reduced to 15.3%, the average income per capita of people in the rural region reached VND22.5mln per year…
Promoting urban and high-tech agriculture
The province’s urban and high-tech agriculture last year reaped encouraging results. As of late 2012, there were nearly 250 hectares of safe vegetables, flowers and ornamental trees; 1,512 hectares of specialty fruit trees; 111 pig and poultry-breeding households with the use of cold cage system with more than 120,000 pigs and 2.83mln of fowls.
The province also worked out construction of 4 high-tech agricultural parks with 991.4 hectares in total. An Thai high-tech agricultural park in Phu Giao district and the high-tech breeding facility of Ba Huan Co.Ltd. in Tan Uyen district’s Vinh Tan commune were put into operation.
Such these apart, the province’s pilot communes for new rural construction program are urgently fulfilling the program while the remaining rural communes continue perfecting criteria of the program. The implementation of the program has also contributed to greatly changing socio-technical infrastructure in the rural region. So far, 80.8% of district rural roads have been covered by asphalt or concrete, 99.65% of people in the rural region are now in use of electricity and there are 44% of rural laborers trained…
In 2013, Binh Duong’s agricultural sector will strength focus on urban agriculture in the southern region and hasten the progress of construction of high-tech agricultural parks. The province will also promote the national target program on rural new construction towards perfecting socio-economic structure in a synchronous way, developing agricultural production in association with consumption market to improve the material and spiritual lives of people in the rural region of the province.
