Province tightens control of transport of poultry and poultry products

Provincial People’s Committee has jus promulgated Circular No.931/UBND-KTN on tightening control of transport of poultry and poultry products.

The circular specifies that H7N9 avian flu is undergoing complex development in China. Authorities in Lang Son province also confiscated and destroyed tens of thousands of chickens smuggled in from China. In a bid to well realize the instruction of Prime Minister of Government on the effective prevention of poultry and poultry products smuggled, provincial People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the mass media to regularly make dissemination of information about the fight against avian flu, raising breeders’ awareness of this disease; mobilize breeders to buy breeding poultry from the local prestigious providers…

Under the circular, provincial Animal Health Department has been ordered to team up with relevant agencies to strengthen control of the transport and trade of poultry and poultry products that have unclear origin; ban all activities regarding the transport and trade of poultry and poultry products from localities in the northern region; monitor the local breeding facilities for timely solutions to prevent the outbreak of avian flu.

Provincial Department of Health also needs to strengthen inspection and control of food safety and hygiene for poultry products; closely monitor the development of A/H5N1 avian flu and A/H7N9 avian flu in humans and guide the local people about preventive measures against avian flu…
