Province’s collective economy promoted

Binh Duong’s collective economy has reached robust growth. But, the sector needs more resources for development in a new height.

With quantity and quality ensured, the model of growing pomelos in Tan Uyen town’s Bach Dang commune is upholding advantages of collective economy.

Broad development

According to the latest report by provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Renewal and Development, Binh Duong is now home to around 347 cooperative groups with 5,977 members.

They focus on loan support, sci-tech transfer, shift of plant and animal structure, helping to creating jobs, eradicating hunger, reducing poverty and increasing income for members.  Currently, the whole province has around 110 cooperatives in stable operation in the fields of transportation, agriculture, construction, trade... with a total chapter capital of VND620.5bln and 56,447 members. Along with sharp increase in number, they have worked very stably with many improvements…

Provincial Cooperative Alliance said that despite difficulties, the local cooperatives with regular activities last year reached VND1.143trillion in production value, generating jobs for more than 4,200 laborers with the average income of between VND3.5mln and VND4.5mln per capita per month. They also paid VND11.4bln for State budget.

In general, province-based cooperative groups and cooperatives have been formed up and worked with diversification in form. They have initially helped the local farmers opportunely catch information, get access to market, increase their competitiveness for better development…

More resources needed

At the 2014 review meeting organized by provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Renewal and Development, delegates stated that collective economic model was of great importance for the local socio-economic development. But, the province’s task of developing cooperatives has still faced shortcomings for change.

Tran Van Thay, Chairman of provincial Cooperative Alliance said that although making breakthroughs, the province’s State administration on collective economy has encountered shortcomings in terms of human resources, operational efficiency, products’ quality…

Similarly, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that the province needed to speed up propaganda and mobilization work of collective economy while flexibly using legal capital sources to promote the local collective economic development.

To achieve the above mentioned things, he added that along with the efforts by provincial Steering Board of Collective Economic Renewal and Development, authorities at all levels of the province needed to make more efforts to promote the local policy on collective economic development.
