Vietnam’s 2013 economy faced many challenges with
purchasing power being still at a low level and export market with
difficulties. Although lending interest rates went down, enterprises’ loan
borrowing for investment in production was still limited because of slow
consumption...All disadvantages made strong impacts on enterprises’ production
and business, greatly affecting the lives of people. But in 2013, Binh Duong’s
industrial manufacture still reaped considerable successes.

Growth in difficult period
In 2013, Binh Duong well realized the Government’s measures and policies on removing difficulties in production and business, supporting the market, handling bad debts… Province-based enterprises made efforts in seeking new consumption markets. Their number of orders for export also increased by 10%-15% compared to the corresponding period of 2012.
The province’s industrial production value in 2013 was estimated at VND162.177trillion, up 15.1% against 2012 or 99% of the year’s plan. Of the total figure, the domestic investment sector achieved nearly VND50.82trillion, up 13.9% while the foreign investment sector gained nearly VND111.36bln, up 15.6%.
Exploitation industry was estimated to reach nearly VND1.032trillion in production value, up 1.5% compared to the corresponding period; processing industry with more than VND160.511trillion, up 15.2%; industries of electricity, gas and water with VND634.6bln, up 2.8%.
The province also saw gained a high growth in the output of semi-conducting equipment (up 77.3%), bricks (up 23.5%), plastic products and drinking water (up 18.1%)…In general, the province’s industrial manufacture value in 2013 was higher than 2012, but was still lower than previous years. This was due to the global economic difficulties that made purchasing power at home and abroad go down.
In such difficult period, the province’s industrial production value still reached 99% of the year’s plan, showing that the great efforts by enterprises and authorities at all levels of the province.
Strengthening support for enterprises
Upholding the above results, provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) will focus on implementing 2014’s main tasks, including adjusting the Binh Duong provincial plan on industrial development till 2020 and vision for 2025; further having a grasp of activities of enterprises and industries’ associations for timely support; further cooperating with localities to extend the province’s plans on building markets, supermarkets, plazas and eradicating street markets.
Provincial DoIT will also opportunely make and implement a plan on goods for the 2014 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival; further implement the national and local projects on agricultural production, support projects on sci-tech transfer and application of sci-tech advancements; advocate enterprises to attend expos at home and abroad, helping them promote their products, expand consumption markets and well realize programs on international economic integration, e-business and “Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods” and “Bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas”.
In addition, provincial DoIT will tighten control over the fields of electricity, oil and petrol, industrial explosive materials; make unexpected inspection tours in accordance with the instruction of higher authorities and complaints; especially carry out periodic inspection tours to the implementation of its Plan No.100/KH-ST dated January 31, 2013 on some measures to improve the quality of activities of market control staff in association with checking their professional knowledge during the remaining days of 2013.
Provincial DoIT will continue enhancing the quality and effectiveness of market control task in the new context; opportunely discover wrong production and business activities, deal with trade fraud, fake and poor quality products; well carry out a plan of provincial Steering Board 127 and Market Control Department on market inspection before, during and after the 2014 Tet festival.
