Early Sept.25, provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung presided over a meeting to approve a draft report on the local socio-economic performance in the first nine months of 2012 and discuss measures to promote socio-economic development for the rest of the year.
Industrial manufacture, services and export on sharp rise
Thanks to good leadership, the province’s economy still maintained positive growth over the past nine months. The province’s total GDP was estimated to grow by 11.2% compared to the corresponding period last year, in which industrial manufacture rose by 7.9%; services by 19.2% and agricultural production by 2%.

production value reached VND95.212trillion, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%. Of
these, the domestic investment sector grew by 11.3% while the foreign
investment sector rose by 13.3%.

The province’s total retail revenue of commodities and services also achieved VND50.673trillion, a year-on-year increase of 25%. Export turnover was estimated at US$8.273bln, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%. Of these, the domestic investment sector increased by 6.5% while the foreign investment sector grew by 18.5%. Some key export products such as woodwork, footwear, garment, rubber latex…gained high growth. So far, the whole province has had 1,735 enterprises exporting their products to 193 countries and territories in the world.
Regarding FDI attraction, the province lured additional US$2.407bln in FDI capital over the past nine months. This figure has brought the total number of FDI projects pouring into the province since early this year to 2,096 capitalized at US$17.148bln. The province also drew additional VND9.919 trillion in domestic capital, lifting the total number of domestic enterprises so far up 13,140 enterprises capitalized at VND101.439trillion…
During the period, the province’s agricultural sector also continued gaining stable growth and especially attached special importance to urban and hi-tech agriculture.
Attaching special importance to investment and development
Over the past nine months, the province’s total State budget spending was estimated at VND7trillion, 42.85% of which was used for basic construction. Construction of many key works, including An Son port, 7A Ben Cat street, Ba Lua bridge, Thoi An bridge, DT744 street, the branch C of provincial General Hospital, the phase 1 of Thanh Phuoc port…, were commenced.
The province also well realized social welfare work with more than VND300bln spent on taking care of policy beneficiaries and poor people.
In addition, the province continued seeing in-depth development in health-education fields. The ratio of pupils with high school graduation reached 99% while the ratio of pupils passing university and college entrance examinations achieved 67.6%. Many other fields in terms of culture-sports, tourism, science-technology…also received synchronous investment.
Measures to fulfill 2012’s plan boosted
To fulfill 2012’s targets, participants unanimously approved 12 key tasks for the rest of the year, including further implementing the Resolutions No.11, 01 and 12 of the Government and the Resolutions of provincial Party Committee and provincial People’s Council on 2012’s socio-economic development tasks.
Provincial People’s Committee Vice-Chairman Tran Van Nam said that sectors, departments and localities need to attach special importance to taking measures regarding urban and high-tech agricultural production, seriously implement the program on new rural construction…in order to take measures set out by provincial People’s Committee in a synchronous way.
Addressing the meeting, Mr.Cung said that along with common measures to fulfill the province’s socio-economic development plan for the rest of the year, sectors and departments need to focus on promoting capital disbursement for basic construction, especially urgent works relating to waterlogging, health and education; promote credit growth, create the best conditions for businesses to get access to preferential loans; re-check bad debts for consideration and solution; well realize policies to ensure social welfare while well implementing criticism and self-criticism under the Resolution of the 4th session of the 11th Party Central Committee on Party building in association with the province’s key programs.
