In his opening speech, Mr.Nam said that thanks to the integral efforts by the local Party, government and people, the province’s socio-economic performance in 2014 continued reaching positive changes.

Provincial People’s Committee drastically took measures for 2014 plans under the Resolutions of the Government, provincial Party Committee and People’s Council, bringing comprehensive results. The lives of the local people continued being improved; national defence-security were maintained. The province also basically fulfilled the local targets on socio-economic development.
Particularly, the province’s industrial production value was estimated at VND187.531bln, up 15.6% compared to the corresponding period last year. The total revenue of enterprises at province-based Ips was US$12.6bln. Provincial People’s Committee took measures to help enterprises, especially ones affected by the May incident remove their difficulties for stability in production and business with a total value of around VND1.3trillion; implemented a preferential credit package of VND1trillion for the affected enterprises.
The province’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services reached VND103.493trillion, up 24.9% against last year’s corresponding period. The province also tightened control over market price; strengthened the fight against smuggling, trade fraud; well realized price stabilization programs, contributing to curbing inflation with consumer price index (CPI) estimated to edge up 2.48% against last year.
The province’s export turnover in 2014 was estimated at US$17.741blb, up 17.5% while import value obtained US$13.732, up 17.7%. Thus, the province’s trade surplus gained more than US$4bln. Total State budget collection was estimated at VND32trillion, up 8% over last year’s same period.
Also in 2014, the province absorbed VND 9.925trillion in FDI capital and US$1.53bln in domestic investment capital. Regarding basic construction, the province boosted construction of key works on traffic infrastructure, power-water supply systems, education, environment…Among 12 key projects announced at the ceremony of commencement to start and develop Binh Duong New City, the province has so far started construction of a 1,500-bed general hospital, launched a bus route between TDM city-Binh Duong New City…, Mr.Nam said.
The province also well ensured social welfare, reached positive changes in the fields of health, education, culture and sport.
Ensuring sustainable development
Together with results done, Mr.Nam said that the local socio-economic performance in 2014 still faced some shortcomings for change.
According to him, 2015 is the final year for implementation of the local targets on socio-economic development in the 2011-2015 period. The province’s main goal in 2015 is to boost implementation of the local action programs in association with tasks to restructure industrial manufacture towards the growth of quality, ensuring sustainable economic development. “Binh Duong will further perfect socio-economic infrastructure and promote urban-services development, making it become a civilized and modern industrial city in the future”, he added.
Here are some targets on socio-economic development of the province in 2015:
-GDP growth reaches 10%
-Industrial production value edges up 15.5%
-Total value of agro-forestry-fishery production rises up 4%
-Total value of services surges 19.2%
-GDP per capita reaches around VND73mln
-Export turnover rises up 15.5%
-FDI attraction gains around US$1bln
-Total State budget collection obtains VND34trillion
-The rate of poor households reduces to below 1%.
