So far, agricultural promotion activities in Binh Duong have reached encouraging results, contributing to improving the local farm productivity, farm produce’s quality and farmers’ production ability.

In the 2006 and 2013
period, provincial Agricultural
Promotion Center
has implemented its programs in most agricultural fields across the province.
The center’s activities have been concretized in accordance with the situation
of each locality, aiming to enhancing the productivity, output of various
plants and animals. Particularly, many intensive farming programs for rubber,
pepper, cashew…have been realized in districts of Phu Giao, Tan Uyen, Dau Tieng
and Ben Cat. For the province’s towns and city, the center has focused on urban
agricultural production models, including those of growing ornamental flowers
and fish, breeding crocodiles and pythons…

The center has also engaged activities in sci-tech transfer, contributing to raising the productivity and output of the local agricultural production models. One of the center’s important tasks is to guide the local farmers how to sort out nurslings and breeding animals for better results. Thanks to the task well implemented, from 2006 to 2012, rubber productivity increased from 14.05 quintals/hectare to 14.78 quintals/hectare. The total number of pigs increased from 298,92 pigs to 443,085 pigs. For poultry, there was an increase to 3.27mln fowls from over 2.022mln fowls…The province also saw expansion for the area of growing pomeloes, ornamental trees and vegetables. Do Thanh Phong, Head of provincial Orchid Farms Club said that under the support of the center, the movement of growing orchids in the province has continued being developed strongly, helping the local orchid growers enjoy stable income…
Production ability improved
The local farmers’ production ability has been improved through activities in sci-tech transfer organized by the center. Since 2006, nearly 1,000 training courses on cultivation and animal husbandry were organized with the participation of nearly 36,000 farmers. And the local farmers have applied sci-tech advancements in cultivation and animal husbandry for better results.
Bui Van Quen, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s Farmers’ Association said that over the past time, the center has created favorable conditions for farmers in the district to take part in some support projects of growing pepper trees, developing cows among ethnic minority people…, contributing to improving their production ability. Also according to him, the center needs to further help the local farmers develop models on breeding cows and chickens, growing orchids and ornamental trees…, aiming to raise their income.
In the coming time, according to center director Nguyen Van Quang, the center will further improve its shortcomings; attach special importance to provincial goal of agricultural structure shift; concentratively promote animal husbandry, ensuring biological safety and environmental hygiene. The center will also speed up sci-tech transfer activities to create breakthroughs in terms of productivity, quality and efficiency in the local agricultural production and rural economy.
