Provincial leaders receive and work with Tokyu Corporation on urban railway line

On June 17, Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, met with a delegation from Tokyu Corporation, Japan, led by Mr. Hirohisa Fujiwara, a Standing Member of Board of Directors and International Business Director. The meeting focused on the research progress for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) urban railway line in Binh Duong province. Other representatives from various departments and sectors of the province were also present.

During the meeting, Mr. Hirohisa Fujiwara expressed gratitude for the support provided by all levels and sectors of Binh Duong province in the cooperation with Becamex Tokyu for the pre-feasibility study of the LRT development project in Thu Dau Mot City. According to the proposal from Tokyu Corporation, the LRT is a crucial component of the Metro (MRT) planning and can serve as a branch line for the MRT. He emphasized the advantages of the LRT model, including faster construction time and lower costs, suggesting that priority should be given to investing in the construction of the LRT line within the inner city of Binh Duong New City.

Mr. Bui Minh Tri presents a souvenir to Mr. Fujiwara during the meeting.

The planning of the LRT route should also take into account the synchronous development of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD). The LRT line will help enhance connectivity and the attractiveness of the entire Binh Duong New City urban area while improving links between residential areas, schools, workplaces, commercial centers, and aligning well with large-scale urban development projects.

Vice Chairman Bui Minh Tri emphasized the importance of the collaboration between Tokyu Corporation and Becamex Tokyu Joint Venture, stating that the LRT urban railway project in Binh Duong is significant for advancing public transport, linking TOD urban infrastructures, and expanding development opportunities between Binh Duong New City and satellite cities. He expressed hope that, based on ongoing research, Tokyu Group will continue to support further studies aligned with the new direction of Binh Duong province, particularly after its merger with Ho Chi Minh City, to ensure the most effective investment plan is developed.
