So far, provincial Support Fund for Farmers has helped thousands of farming households get preferential loans to develop production models. The efficiency of the fund has not only assisted farming households to escape poverty, but also contributed to hastening the local new rural construction process.
Helping farmers escape poverty
Pham Manh Cuong, owner of the 10-hectare Linh Cuong pig farm in North Tan Uyen district’s Tan Dinh commune said that initial investment capital for the farm was very great at around VND26bln. In 2013, his family also received support in terms of investment capital from provincial Support Fund for Farmers. His pig farm is now very stable with 3,000-5,000 breeding pigs and ones for meat. On average, his family secures around VND3bln-VND5bln a year from the pig farm. “North Tan Uyen district’s Farmers Association made contributions to the success of the farm. The association created advantageous conditions for my farm to develop its production scale; organized training courses on veterinary for workers…”, he said.

Also thanks to the attention and help of the local Farmers Association, the family of Le Minh Tan, one of poor households in Dau Tieng district’s Long Tan commune has so far risen up out of poverty and secured a stable life. Tan said that he used loans from provincial Support Fund for Farmers to breed cows and improve his rubber garden. Till now, he has developed 15 cows, cleared his debt and reached stability on economic conditions.
Ngo Van Hai, Chairman of Bach Dang communal Farmers Association stated that thanks to loans from provincial Support Fund for Farmers plus support policies on cultivation technique, farmers in the commune have bravely developed pomelo orchards with bigger and bigger scale. The commune has also effectively provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.145 on supporting cultivation of orange tasted sweet pomelos and guava tasted pomeloes to enhance product quality for a stable market.
According to Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung, Director of provincial Support Fund for Farmers, this is one of provincial Farmers Association’s effective means to support members to build and form up collective economic models and cooperative forms at requirements of commercial agriculture in the new context. Since early this year, VND11bln has been mobilized for the fund, bringing its total capital so far to nearly VND80bln.
Loans provided for targeted people
Since early this year, provincial Farmers Association and its affiliates have jointly carried out tentative models on agricultural production; held 8 trips to effective agricultural production models for nearly 300 members…They have also mobilized good farming households in production-business, fertilizer agents, agricultural materials-animal feed companies…to give support of more than VND9.4 for 1,620 members.
Provincial Farmers Association will continue closely coordinating with relevant agencies to provide loans from it for targeted people while guiding them how to effectively use the loans. Provincial Farmers Association and its affiliates will also regularly organize meetings for members to share and exchange mutual experience in production.
Possibly seeing, provincial Support Fund for Farmers have upheld it efficiency, especially for medium or small-sized production models. It has helped members to build and replicate production models, contributing to shifting the local economic structure and promoting the local concentrated production models.
