Modernity and diversification of forms
According to provincial project of public traffic development planning till 2025 and vision after 2025, the province till 2025 will develop more many new and modern forms of public traffic. They include railway, express bus and more.
In order to run means properly in conformity with the provincial common planning, the project’s consultant unit researches and assesses advantages and disadvantages of existing public traffic system, of which bus is considered as the main means.
The bus system’s highlighted characters lie in detailed planning and design, connecting urban and rural areas. Due to objective and subjective difficulties, bus business enterprises manage to improve obstacles by shifting coaches into buses, so it is difficult to bring conveniences for passengers. Besides, owing to high price of bus tickets, most of passengers use long distance bus routes with more than 16km and above and use only 1-2 times per week.
Based on new development of bus routes, the consultant unit suggests some new and modern forms of public traffic such as express bus, urban railway waterway bus and so on in a bid to diversify the means of public transport means.
Promoting potentials
At the working session on the provincial project of public traffic development planning till 2025 and vision after 2025 with leaders of departments, agencies and localities, deputies asked the consultant unit to re-assess efficiency of some routes to minimize waste.
Bui Van Hai, vice director of the provincial department of Natural Resources and Environment said “at present urban area throughout the world face restriction of land fund. Why does Binh Duong not think about underground transport means? In my opinion, aside from modern means, we should maintain traditional means to contribute to minimizing traffic congestion, environmental protection and more”.
Meanwhile, Lam Phi Hung, vice chairman of Thu Dau Mot city suggested that we should re-assess operational efficiency of taxi as well as mull over development of waterway bus model.
Addressing the meeting session, Tran Van Nam, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee asked departments, agencies and localities to mull over and promote available potentials to create long term using value. In addition, he noted that the consultant unit should forecast population development to solve local residents’ demand on transport. Especially, public traffic planning can not separate from urban development.
