Earth Hour 2015 will take place on March 28 at 8:30p.m with the message of “Saving Energy – Fighting Climate Change”, Binh Duong sets out drastic activities to contribute to changing local people’s awareness on energy using, power saving and living environmental protection and more.
Not only slogan
This is the seventh year the Earth Hour 2015 held on the world. However, impact and efficiency become stronger. In response this campaign, the provincial People’s Committee delivered a Document No.654/UBND-KTN on participating in the Earth Hour campaign 2015 and asked all level agencies to spur dissemination on significance and purpose of the campaign and register to carry out the campaign by switching off unnecessary lights and electrical equipment at units and agencies and public areas as well as mobilizing family members to respond this campaign.
With the hope of contributing to common success of the Earth Hour campaign 2015, Binh Duong Electricity Company has cooperated with departments, agencies and localities, mass bodies and mass media agencies, especially provincial youth union to launch activities and mobilize local people to join positively in this campaign.
As a developing industrial province, Binh Duong accounts for a high rate of power using. Thanks to instruction of the provincial People’s Committee, positive support of departments, agencies and localities for implementing program of power saving, Binh Duong in the past year saved 221.8mil kWh of power. In the Earth Hour campaign 2014 alone, the locality saved 42,200kWh of electricity. Aside from significance of raising local residents’ awareness on power saving and environmental protection, the Earth Hour campaign 2015 will contribute to help Binh Duong Electricity Company reach and surpass target of saving 2.1% of power output in this year.
Strengthening power saving
Promoting the done results, Binh Duong Electricity Company will cooperate with People’s Committee at all levels, quarters, hamlets and mass bodies to launch the movement of “cultural hamlets, residential areas carry out power saving” and “power saving streets”. The goal is to reach over 50% of local households to save 0.5% and more of power compared with the past year. In addition, public lighting system should be implemented on criteria of power saving.
In 2015, Binh Duong Electricity Company continues to work with the provincial department of Trade and Industry, Youth Union and Labor Union to hold a contest on power saving initiatives for enterprises. Additionally, Binh Duong Electricity Company sets out training program on propagandist of power saving, works with center for energy saving or center for industrial promotion to hold training classes on electric using safely, thriftily and effectively for 100% of enterprises across the province.
Training on energy managers for enterprises in the province is also focused. The company in cooperation with the local department of Trade and Industry holds seminar on energy saving for enterprises. The Earth Hour has been responded widely across the world. In Vietnam, the campaign has become a significant system, helping the entire society raise awareness on environmental protection and climate change and implement the State’s instruction on power saving.
