To promote agricultural development, Binh Duong province has effectively implemented the project "Restructuring the agricultural sector towards higher added value and sustainable development". Accordingly, since earlier this year, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) approved and transferred VND54.6 billion of Investment Fund to develop 7 loan options of encouraging agricultural development oriented urban agriculture, high-tech agriculture, ecological agriculture attached with processing industry. DARD also collaborated with Farmers Unions of districts, towns and city to organize 7 workshops, 23 training courses, 10 field trips to promptly transfer new techniques to farmers.
Mr. Pham Tan Binh, Director of DARD, said, Binh Duong had been encouraging enterprises to invest in farming, breeding, agricultural processing ... An example of high-tech agricultural production is the model of U & I Agricultural Ltd Co. at An Thai commune, Phu Giao district. The company has developed many models of cultivation applying modern agricultural production technologies to increase productivity and product quality.

In addition to high-tech agricultural zones, many families in the province have been taking steps to apply new technologies into production. There are now over 915 hectares planting vegetables, mushrooms, fruits, medicinal plants, orchids, ornamental plants ... Breeding sector has also developed with 93 farms, 6 companies breeding chickens, hens with more than 6.4 million ones; 59 farms and 5 companies investing in pig meat, pig breeding with more than 139,000 ones.
Mr. Binh said, in the future, DARD would continue implementing urban and agricultural development project in southern region of the province to create urban green space and ecological areas. On the other hand, the northern part of the province would be focused on breeding development towards modern industry, producing high-quality products, and ensuring food safety and environmental protection. The Department will also put into practice a number of preferential policies to attract investment and transfer advanced farming models, high technology applications to farms and households.
