In the context of integration and the process of national industrialization and modernization of the country, modern agricultural production has been specialized and applied machinery in all stages. This contributes to producing high-quality agricultural products, reducing costs and creating products with high competitiveness in the market. However, along with that, the demand for electricity for production will also increase. To save electricity to the maximum extent in agricultural production, it is necessary to synchronously implement various solutions.
Raising awareness
Last year, provincial Sub-Department of Rural Development has promoted practical and diverse communication activities, thereby contributing to raising awareness of enterprises, cooperatives and agricultural production groups on economical and efficient use of energy. These units have become more aware of saving electricity. Enterprises, cooperatives and agricultural production groups are interested in applying many energy-saving solutions in production and business activities while well implementing the Prime Minister’s Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy and Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023 on strengthening electricity saving in the period of 2023–2025 and the following years, contributing to environmental protection and response to climate change.

In order to promote the implementation of electricity-saving solutions, provincial People's Committee issued the Prime Minister’s Plan No. 4304/KH-UBND to implement the Directive No. 20/CT-TTg on strengthening electricity saving for the period of 2023–2025 and the following years in the province. Accordingly, implementing the Sub-Department of Rural Developmenthe’s Plan No. 201/KH-CCPTNT on rural development activities in 2025, the Sub-Department of Rural Development has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade to organize propaganda and guidance on using energy economically and efficiently in agricultural production activities in Binh Duong province in 2025.
The propaganda session attracted more than 60 delegates who are representatives of the Economic Departments of districts and cities; cooperatives, farms, production groups, enterprises and other related organizations and individuals in the province. The delegates were informed by the speaker about the following contents: the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy; the Government’s Decree No. 62/2025/ND-CP detailing the implementation of the Electricity Law on the protection of electricity works and safety in the electricity sector; the Government’s Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP regulating the mechanism for direct electricity trading between renewable energy generation units and large electricity consumers; the Government’s Decree No. 58/2025/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of the Electricity Law on the development of renewable energy and new energy electricity; the Government’s Decree No. 134/2013/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions in the electricity sector, hydropower dam safety, economical and efficient energy use; provincial People's Committee’s Plan No. 4304/KH-UBND implementing the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 20/CT-TTg on strengthening electricity saving for the period of 2023–2025 and the following years in Binh Duong province…
Through the propaganda session, participating delegates became aware of laws, decrees and relevant documents on applying economical energy use in agricultural production activities at their units.
Long-term benefits
Enterprises, cooperatives and agricultural production households in Binh Duong have been actively applying modern science and technology in cultivation and animal husbandry while constantly striving to build production–consumption linkage chains and promote brand development to enhance the value of local agricultural products. Up to now, Binh Duong has had more than 8,400 hectares of high-tech cultivated land, focusing on clean and organic agricultural models.
Clean agricultural products produced under Organic, VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards are the criteria that the province’s agriculture sector focuses on implementing, shown through investment in modern technology and strict product quality management. Currently, Binh Duong ranks second in the Southeastern region and fifth nationwide in the number of agricultural farms. The province’s livestock sector has also been strongly transformed towards large-scale, concentrated and environmentally friendly farms. Binh Duong has also achieved many positive results in building animal disease-free zones, aiming for export.
With its functions and duties, provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment promotes communication on economical use of energy and electricity. At the same time, it renovates and modernizes technology towards reducing energy and electricity consumption, especially in energy- and electricity-intensive stages such as irrigation, preliminary processing and preservation of agricultural products as well as saving electricity in daily life.
According to leader of provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, saving electricity not only reduces costs for enterprises, but also contributes to stabilizing national energy sources and ensuring stability to maintain production. Cooperatives, enterprises and individuals in the area need to accelerate the replication of appropriate agricultural extension models to save electricity, models of production linkage for agricultural product consumption and closed-loop livestock models applying advanced technology, clean technology, and water-saving technology. It is encouraged that livestock households and farms build biogas tanks to generate bioenergy for cooking and running generators for on-site needs, reducing electricity consumption. In the production process, it is necessary to take advantage of solar energy for drying agricultural products, arrange windows to capture light for lighting in workshops and barns; arrange air inlets and outlets reasonably to ensure optimal air circulation, thereby reducing production costs and avoiding the use of electrical lighting equipment. In addition, it is necessary to invest in upgrading equipment in accordance with the production process, use clean energy and renewable energy technologies in production, processing, preservation and transportation of agricultural products; eliminate outdated, low-energy efficiency equipment and machinery under the regulations of competent State agencies.
Currently, Binh Duong ranks second in the Southeastern region and fifth nationwide in terms of the number of agricultural farms. To maximize electricity saving in agricultural production, the province needs to focus on synchronously implementing various solutions. Modern agricultural production with mechanization, automation and the application of smart and integrated technology requires active, efficient, stable and sustainable energy supply technologies such as solar energy and wind power...These are renewable energy sources that need attention and investment. |
