The forum, titled "Smart City - Towards a Community of Characteristic and Sustainable Development for a Cohesive and Proactive ASEAN", was co-hosted by the Central Economic Committee and Ministry of Construction. The forum included 5 seminars with 200 delegates, focused on key areas in smart city building.
This was an event associated with the 1-year review of the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies on smart urban development, and Vietnam's activities as the President of ASEAN 2020.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the forum was an important opportunity for a comprehensive discussion, exchange of experiences and good practices in smart city development among member countries and cities, and promoting partnerships outside the bloc.
According to the Prime Minister, the remarkable development of science and technology, especially the Industry 4.0, has shed new light on many new knowledge horizons, including expanding new spaces for smart urban development, not only helped improve the quality of people's lives, economic growth, save energy, protect resources effectively, but also orientated and predicted problems and risks more accurately and quickly, thereby increasing the adaptability and self-resilience of the society and cities.
The Prime Minister emphasized one important content, that was, smart city development must be closely linked with strong information infrastructure, building e-government, moving towards digital government in the 4.0 industrial revolution and development process. urban development in Vietnam.
Provinces, along with the development of smart utilities, need to focus on building an intelligent database platform for making smart decisions; encouraging smart city management planning and solutions.
To attract the strong participation of the private sector, promote the capacity of innovation and creativity; create a strong spillover effect. A smart city must be the city of the people, the product of enterprises, is a city with good social relations, preserving and promoting good cultural traditions, human relations.
