A large number of immigrant laborers have rushed to Binh Duong for living and working. To meet their housing demand, the province has mobilized all economic sectors to get involved in social housing development projects.

Social houses suitable to laborers’ financial ability
According to Tran Quoc Hung, Director of the Management Board of Becamex Social Housing Project, this is Vietnam’s social housing complex with the most preferential price for low-income earners.
A fully-furnished 30-square-meter apartment of the project is priced at more than VND100mln. Home buyers only need to pay between VND5mln and VND10mln in advance and then are allowed to make payment by installments within 60-84 months with the preferential interest rate.
Among social housing projects invested in the province, the project invested by Becamex IDC is the biggest one and it has also been implemented very fast. Since 2012, Becamex IDC has handed over more than 5,000 flats under the project to laborers with stable jobs with the selling price of between VND90mln and VND160mln per flat of 30 square meters.
Becamex IDC is also building additional 5,000 flats for the next phase of the project.
As planned, Becamex IDC will build 37 social housing areas in TDM city, Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen towns with a total of 64,700 flats for around 168,000 low income earners. The social housing project has a total investment capital of VND11trillion.
Support policies needed
Representative of provincial Department of Construction said that the province has absorbed hundreds of thousands of immigrant laborers. The local people have built around 200,000 lodging-rooms, supplying accommodations for more than 500,000 laborers with the price of between VND150,000 and VND200,000 per capita per month. In recent years, the province has also built 19 social housing areas with a total floor area of 264,000 square meters, supplying stable accommodations for nearly 40,000 laborers. Around 200 enterprises at province-based industrial parks and compounds have also constructed social housing areas of 270,000 square meters for around 47,000 laborers…
Becamex IDC’s social housing project and apartments built by enterprises at province-based industrial parks now only supply accommodations for more than 200,000 laborers. Meanwhile, there will be 250,000 laborers with housing demand until 2015.
Currently, many enterprises in the province find it very difficult to carry out their social housing projects, due to the lack of capital and ability. That’s reason why only a few projects in this field are implemented.
The province has always created favorable conditions for the development of social housing projects. The province now has a great clean land fund for social housing projects. For this field getting better, the province has also suggested the Government to map out a plan on State budget allocation for social housing projects. Besides, social housing works need to get incentive policies regarding infrastructure investment. Enterprises in this field also need be created favorable conditions in terms of administrative procedures, tax tariff, loans…
With the above efforts, the province’s social housing program will be basically developed, creating favorable conditions for laborers to work and live in peace and contentment…
