Stable business
In the 1st quarter of 2013, most of big export markets such as the EU, US, Korea, Japan and so on recovered their economy, so local businesses’ orders increased significantly. Most of the provincial exporters signed orders lasting till the end of the 2nd quarter of 2013. Especially, big companies signed orders lasting till the end of this year.
Therefore, businesses’ revenue increases strongly compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the state-run businesses’ turnover jumped 23%, non-state companies 32.4%, foreign ones 21.2%. Export turnover was estimated at US$2.828bil, a 15.7% increase from the same period last year.
Key export items included garment & textile, footwear, seafood, rubber product and so on. Specifically, timber product increased 2.3%, garment & textile 6.6%, footwear 6.8% and handicraft 1.9%.
Aside from traditional export markets, businesses have reinforced trade promotion and expanded new market. Particularly, some exporters have changed their goals to conquer domestic customers and control local market.
Nguyen Hoang Anh, director of Smart Tailor Businessman JSC, linking with Binh Duong Apparel Company, said “Retuning domestic market, the company launched new products for male branded Unicol into market. After 3 years of efforts, we have met clients’ demand better. Unicol has so far occupied 10% of local market share”.
Taking care of laborers’ life
With thousands of businesses under operation, Binh Duong has lured millions of laborers nationwide, 60% of whom are immigrant workers. Like the previous years, the past 2013 Tet holiday, businesses facilitated laborers’ family reunion. An entrepreneur shared “As a business, employers must take care of laborers’ life on Tet, despite difficulties”.
In 2012, most of businesses in the province paid much attention to laborers’ family reunion on Tet holiday. They gave Tet bonuses and allowances for laborers.
Vo Van Cu, director of the provincial department of Trade and Industry, said “Unlike previous years, this year’s rate of laborers returning work after Tet holiday was very high with 95.5%, so many businesses enjoyed a stable production and business as well as bravely signed many orders with partners. This result was thanks to functional agencies and localities’ inspections on implementation of labor code at businesses”.
Bounding for community
Reportedly, under attention of all level agencies and sectors and employers, the entire province in 2012 mobilized over VND273bil to take care of privileged and social subjects. This showed employers’ great attention to the community.
Nguyen Minh Man, director of Tu Tam Nhan Ai center for old people and orphans, said “In the last Tet holiday, entrepreneurs paid gift visits to us. We are very grateful to businesses”.
In addition, many enterprises paid gift visits to poor people in border and island areas. Tran Thanh Trong, general director of Sang Ban Mai JSC in Ben Cat district said that the company in cooperation with the Saigon Giai phong Newspaper and Nghe An province’s Border Guard High Command successfully implemented a program named “Truong Son gratitude” (Sentimental attachment for Truong Son Road). Under the charity program, poor people and soldiers living across border areas of Vietnam and Laos enjoyed gift visits from the delegation.
Accordingly, Sang Ban Mai Company granted a generator and 2,000 notebooks to Nam Tip secondary school in Muong Ai commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, paid a gift visit to Nam Tip border post and so on.
Many businesses hope to enjoy a bright economy, resulting in better attention to laborer and community.
