Yesterday of January 26, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST) held a review meeting to sum up activities in 2010 and orient to 2011. Provincial People’s Committee (PPC)’s Deputy Chairman Huynh Van Nhi attended the meeting.

In 2010, cultural and art performing activities in Binh Duong Province have flourished with encouraging titles of first prize in Mien Dong singing festival and runner-up in cultural festival for Dong Nam Bo families. The team also attended professional art performance festivals in Ho Chi Minh City and Quang Tri Province. Besides 2 gold and 2 silver medals won, the team was honored with merit certificates for excellent art direction and dancing.

The 5th Spring festival 2011 co-held by Thu Dau Mot town Youth Union and the town Culture Center took place at Nguyen Du Road on Jan. 25.

The provincial Cultural Center’s poetical club in cooperation with Taichi Club of Phu Cuong ward, local youth union and Gia Thang dragon dance club paid a Tet gift visit to learners of Binh Duong Vocational Training Center for the Disabled.

Phu My Ltd. – the investor of Tan Dong Hiep B IP in Di An district – handed 500 gifts including rice, sugar, cooking oil, cake each worth VND350,000 over Di An district People’s Committee to grant them to local poor families. On the occasion, the company leaders and Tan Dong Hiep commune People’s Committee paid a gift visit to poor households in the upcoming Tet.

Union of the People and Political Block delegation of Ben Cat District was led by Mr. Pham Minh Tuan, who is standing commissioner cum head of public mobilization, to visit soldiers at No. 793 border post in Binh Phuoc Province, its HQ, and Infantry Battalion No. 10 under Army HQ of Bu Dop District.

The event is officially starts under co-organization of Binh Duong Province’s Journalism Association and Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The provincial People’s Committee chairman Le Thanh Cung just chaired a meeting to hear about implementation of programs on Tet 2011, settlement of allowances for privileged people, poor households and situation of Tet bonus at companies. Accordingly, from Feb. 1-7, programs serving for people on Tet include music show, Spring Newspaper festival, Spring flower festival, firework festival, dragon dance festival, photo exhibition… will take place across province.

Dat Thu Travel-Communications-Event Co. has just implemented a program named “Noi chao se chia” (Charity rice porridge pot) for poor patients who are being treated at provincial General Hospital.

Thien Sinh Joint Stock Co. in Ben Cat district’s An Tay commune has just held a sports festival to raise funds for orphans and disable children.

A delegation from provincial Red Cross Society, its Volunteers’ Club and provincial Buddhist Sangha, on Jan.22, visited and presented Tet gifts worth VND300,000 each to policy beneficiaries, poor people, Agent Orange victims and blind people across the province.

Over the past days, overseas Vietnamese have flocked to homeland to enjoy the traditional lunar New Year (Tet) festival. Ha Noi, HCM city and other provinces, cities nationwide have organized get-togethers for overseas Vietnamese and organized tours to the country’s key works for them. Whilst, overseas Vietnamese in Binh Duong have been invited to attend a get-together to be held on the evening of Jan.25 at provincial People’s Committee.
