To stimulate tourism demand
The Southeast region is considered the most dynamic economic region in the country and has many advantages for tourism development. However, due to effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, from after Lunar New Year 2020, tourism industry has suffered much damage. During the first 6 months of 2020, Binh Duong tourism industry also encountered many difficulties. To revive tourism industry, Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of Binh Duong provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said Binh Duong tourism industry prepared all the most favorable conditions for tourism development union in the Southeast region to gain the expected results. Recently, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched the program "Vietnamese people travel to Vietnam" with the goal to stimulate domestic tourism demand, creating conditions for people to travel to other regions of the country in the new usual context after the Covid-19.
Together with the national tourism industry, Binh Duong also had specific activities to boost tourism demand for travel agencies, accommodation, and tourist destinations in the province. Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised Provincial People's Committee to build up a plan "Communication, promotion of stimulus program to attract tourists to Binh Duong in 2020", and launched the program "Vietnamese people travel to Vietnam"; held conferences and talks with travel agencies in the province to understand difficulties, take measures and create the most favorable conditions for enterprises and investors to develop and expand business to create momentum for the recovery of Binh Duong tourism industry. In general, most tour operators in the province have actively participated in this program with specific stimulus activities.
Uniting for tourism development
Mr. Truc said that in recent years Binh Duong had implemented measures under the Politburo's Resolution 08-NQ / TW on developing tourism to become a spearhead economic sector, yet had not brought positive results, had not fully exploited tourism potential, was still poor in products, have not attracted many tourists, especially international visitors. This is also a concern of Binh Duong leadership in particular and the whole region in general.
According to Mr. Truc, this conference was the first step for the cooperation and linking to be carried out, put forward solutions and problems to be solved. To effectively implement the tourism development union in the Southeast region, Binh Duong also proposed a number of solutions. That is to take advantage of, invest and maximize tourism potential and strengths of each locality, renew and perfect existing products; to connect travel products together. Tourism products of each locality must guarantee the quality, reasonable price, and are able to satisfy tourists. In addition, it is necessary to support and share information with investors, businesses, organizations and individuals working in tourism industry so that they can learn and participate in tourism development investment projects in each locality. The selected tourism products are completed, then will be put into the tourism product providing system. To form mechanisms and policies for linking between localities to develop regional tourism.
According to experts, effective links must be measured on the following criteria: Visitors to the Southeast region are getting more crowded, staying longer, spending more, introducing more, and higher rate of returning tourists. It is also the goal set out by the Southeastern tourism development union conference. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, said the role of tourism industry as a general economic sector, especially after the Politburo issued a resolution to mobilize all resources to develop tourism as a key economic sector. Furthermore, tourism industry is also a channel for exchanges between people domestically and internationally. Challenges are accompanied opportunities, this is also a chance for us to look back and renew ourselves.
