Provincial People's Committee has recently directed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1325/QĐ-TTg, dated November 4, 2024 on the plan to implement the Southeast Region Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, provincial People's Committee has assigned provincial Department of Planning and Investment to take the lead, coordinating with other departments, agencies and district and city-level People's Committees, to execute or advise on the implementation of the Decision No. 1325/QĐ-TTg.
Key tasks outlined in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1325/QĐ-TTg include accelerating economic restructuring in the region towards modernization, emphasizing science and technology, innovation, digital economy, sharing economy, green economy and circular economy; leading the development of high-tech industries and high-quality services; developing synchronized and modern infrastructure; building and developing an urban system; enhancing social fields; managing resources and responding to climate change; strengthening foreign economic activities, regional and intra-regional cooperation.
Particularly, the Southeastern region has strongly developed a number of industries, mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, downstream products of the petrochemical industry, processing of downstream products of the petrochemical industry and processing of products from the petrochemical industry; developed modern industrial-service-urban zones and high-tech industrial zones. New centralized IT zones will be constructed to attract investment in the production of electronics, IoT product and artificial intelligence technologies, particularly in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.
Regarding urban development, the Southern region will enhance urban quality to ensure modernity, smartness and connection with cities in the region and world; synchronously implement policies to decompress and reduce load for large urban areas, promoting the development of satellite urban areas; effectively implement of the “city-within-a-city” model; develop economic zones in association with key urban areas, industrial parks and industrial compounds in dynamic urban areas; research on converting the functions of industrial parks and export processing zones when the land use term expires and is not consistent with the planning; focus on building houses to ensure living conditions for low-income workers and workers in industrial parks and export processing zones.
In terms of national defense and security, the region will deploy solutions combining socio-economic development with ensuring national defense and security in a synchronous way; make management and use of national defense and security land; manage and protect its defense works and military zones...
