IPC Apex Expo 2014 is to select the best in hand soldering and sponsored by IPC - the Association Connecting Electronics Industries, is a trade association whose aim is to standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies. IPC is a non-profit organization with more than 3,300 members throughout the world.
At the World’s Hand Soldering Competition 2014, nations sent representatives who are the champions at the hand soldering Competitions (Nepcon 2013) from various countries namely the US, Portland, China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, India.
Vietnam’s rep is Le Van Duc working at Spartronics Vietnam Co.Ltd. for more than 4 years. As the champion of the 2nd Hand Soldering Championship in Vietnam, Duc is an excellent worker co-sponsored by Spartronics Vietnam Co.Ltd. and IPC to join in the World’s Hand Soldering Competition 2014 at Las Vegas, the US. Previous winners and runners-up from Monthly Hand Soldering Competitions would compete against each other to build a functional electronics assembly within a half-hour time limit. Assemblies would be judged on soldering in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, the speed at which the assembly was produced and overall electrical functionality of the assembly. IPC-A-610 Master Instructors would serve as the judges.
As a result, Duc ranked third at the World’s Hand Soldering Competition 2014, the first prize went to an American contestant and the second one went to Chinese contestant. The most striking thing in this year’s hand soldering competition was that worker Le Van Duc was one of the youngest contestants in both aging and working experience.

In the previous years, realizing hand soldering skill as one of important skills in electronics industry, Spartronics Vietnam Co.Ltd.’s management board planned to develop this skill for workers by encouraging them to join in training classes on hand soldering.
