Annually, Binh Duong province plants hundreds thousands of trees all over the province. To perform the project "Binh Duong Smart City", provincial People's Committee directed Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities... to carry out the propaganda and organization of planting green in industrial parks, urban areas and residential areas throughout the province.

Preserving the green for streets
Before building his new house, Tran Van Thanh living in Nguyen Trai street, Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An town, thoughtfully decided to retain 2 trees in front yard, leading to an extra construction cost. But according to Mr. Thanh, greenery in living space brings cool and pleasant atmosphere to his family and his neighbors. He decided to keep the trees for long term benefit, to ensure a good health and environment for the family and the surrounding.
Not only the family of Mr. Thanh, many families living in urban areas in the province are also very conscious of protecting and developing more trees in the context of rapid urbanization process. On "golden lands", the fact that urban residents retain trees is a very respectful action.
Thu Dau Mot City is the leading locality in urban greening. The urban renewal and management scheme for Thu Dau Mot in the period 2011-2015 was completed, and the city is developing greenery spaces in the period 2015-2020. The city has now more than 15,000 trees with the average urban green area of 36m2/person. In order to maintain this green space, the system of green trees in the area is developed by the city every year. Roads inner city and along drainage in the city also have greenery, contributing to the green lung for urban development and sustainable development.
According to Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the movement of planting trees is also spreading in industrial zones. The benefits of planting trees are very large, have the effect of reducing noise, air filtering, creating shade ... It is a good news that the program of planting trees are supported by businesses.
In response to World Environment Day (5 Jun), Binh Duong launched a program of planting trees in the period 2018-2019, with the aim of raising awareness of all people classes about the effects of afforestation associated with socio-economic development and ecological environment protection. This program is also one of the important contents in the plan to build a civilized, modern and environmentally friendly Binh Duong Smart City.
To help plant trees
Recently, at Bau Bang Industrial Park (Bau Bang district), provincial People's Committee organized a launching ceremony of Tree-planting Festival (19 May) and Tree planting program for the period 2018-2019. Thuan An town launched also tree planting in An Phu ward, attracted the participation and interest of thousands of people. After that, this program continued to be implemented in other localities in the province.
According to Mr. Nguyen, trees, mainly are Dipterocarpus alatus and Hopea odorata from 1-4 years (1-4m high), with the total number up to 170,000 trees / year will be sponsored by Becamex IDC for districts, towns and cities to grow in public areas, households, businesses ... Provincial Youth Union collaborate with local authorities to organize tree planting and tending, propagate and mobilize people, mass organizations and enterprises to plant and care for trees at each household, enterprise...
The supply of green trees in large quantity, good quality will help Binh Duong to increase the greenery percentage in urban areas, industrial clusters, households and enterprises… creating healthy space for the community. Huynh Thu Lap, Vice Chairman of Ben Cat town People's Committee, said that in addition to implementing the tree planting program in the period 2018-2019, previously the town still maintained the greening for the city. At present, the speed of industrialization and urbanization in Ben Cat is taking place very rapidly, residential areas are growing, so the increase of greenery density is one of the key tasks of the town in improving the environment quality, so that Ben Cat is could become a civilized, modern and environmentally friendly city.
Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, asked agencies, units, business community and all people in the province to actively participate in tree planting program. He also asked departments, sectors and localities to bring the tree planting movement into a regular activity and maintain it annually to contribute to mitigating the negative effects of climate change, improving the living environment for the whole community.
