Thousands of people now live in social housing areas invested by Becamex IDC
So far, there have been more than 15,000 laborers living in social housing areas invested by Becamex IDC under the Action Program No.27 of provincial Party Committee on social housing development. In early April 2015, Becamex IDC inaugurated and put 4,895 social apartments into use in 4 localities, including Thuan An town, TDM city, Ben Cat town and Bau Bang district. This was the first phase of provincial social housing scheme completed after two years of construction.
According to provincial Department of Construction, many enterprises have till now registered to develop social housing projects under the Action Program No.27. Among them, there are two State-run enterprises, namely Becamex IDC and Binh Duong Production-Export Import Corporation. Some investors of commercial housing projects have also asked permission of relevant agencies to change the use goal of these projects, becoming social housing ones for low-income earners at society’s demand.
Taking care of poor laborers
Becamex IDC was a pioneer in the field of building social houses for laborers in Binh Duong over the past time. The Becamex social housing scheme for the phase 1 from 2011 to 2015 was implemented under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.2541/QD-UBND dated September 6, 2011. Accordingly, there are 43 social housing projects for laborers.
Under the phase 1 of the Becamex social housing scheme, each apartment is around 30 square meters. It is also expanded to more than 50 square meters for the phase 2 at market’s demand.
The success of projects under the Becamex social housing scheme bears significance in socio-political aspects, thereby contributing to ensuring human resources for the local socio-economic development. For deeper goal, this contributes to developing Binh Duong into a first-class city before 2020.
According to provincial leaders, the province decided to approve the Becamex social housing scheme at locals’demand for housing. The scheme has more than 64,000 apartments with a total investment of nearly VND11trillion. Being commenced construction from 2012, it has so far handed over 5,000 apartments with the selling price of VND90million and 30 square meters each to low-income laborers. In the phase 2 of the scheme, there will be additional 10,000 apartments of 50-70 square meters each.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Dinh Hoa social housing area just held, representative of the Ministry of Construction said that the Becamex social housing scheme was the country’s biggest and most successful social housing scheme. Binh Duong made efforts in perfecting procedures for the scheme, attached special importance to choicing reasonable design solutions, reducing construction costs, but still ensuring the quality of the work…
