Successfully building sustainable economic development models is a premise for rural communes to fulfill their criteria on new rural construction. But, the models require sci-tech transfer for better results.
The local functional agencies have
over time attached special importance to sci-tech transfer among farmers,
contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of their production. In 2012 alone,
provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with
localities to implement 58 field research spots, 143 training classes, 8
workshops on special subjects and many other talk shows on how to grow, tend
and exploit plants; organize agricultural production models under VietGAP
standards…, luring more than 6,200 turns of participants. The local
agricultural sector also realized 257 tentative models on agricultural
promotion for various plants and animals.

Among criteria on new rural construction, income is a very important criterion, directly affecting the spiritual and material lives of each farmer household. Hence, farmer households’ sustainable economic development is a key premise for successfully building new rural construction. That’s reason why the local functional agencies have strengthened focus on activities of transferring sci-tech advancements in agricultural production among farmers.
So far, farmers in Tan Uyen district’s Hieu Liem commune have skillfully applied sci-tech advancements in production for high income. Agricultural production value in the commune is very high at between VND300mln and VND350mln per hectare per year. According to the communal People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Tam, the local authorities at all levels will further give training in agricultural production to farmers; set up a cooperative group on growing various fruit trees; promote the VietGap model among farmer households and build trademarks for the local farm produce.
Nguyen Phong Huy, Deputy Head of provincial Plant Protection Department said that the department has over time given priority on sci-tech transfer to the local communes with new rural construction towards successfully building sustainable economic development models to increase farmers’ income. Sci-tech transfer in the local communes with new rural construction now focuses on hi-tech agricultural models such as those of growing orchids, ornamental trees… Also according to him, the department will further speed up sci-tech transfer in agricultural production for farmers in 2013.
With achievements done plus orientations on hi-tech agriculture, it is hoped that many effective economic models will be developed in the local communes with new rural construction, contributing to promoting the local agricultural development.
