On May 26, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee Bui Minh Tri chaired and worked with a working delegation of Standing Office of National Steering Committee 389 on the implementation of Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister on launching a peak campaign to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.
According to a report from the Provincial Steering Committee 389, the situation regarding smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in Binh Duong province has become increasingly complex during the first five months of 2025. These issues are characterized by many sophisticated and unpredictable methods.
Despite not being located on a national border, Binh Duong's convenient transportation network, extensive warehouse system, and large number of enterprises make it an attractive transit area for goods, which also poses a significant risk for smuggling and the distribution of low-quality products.
In the first five months of the year, Binh Duong's authorities conducted inspections in nearly 2,000 cases, addressed 465 violations, and collected over 18 billion VND for the budget.
At the meeting, Mr. Tran Duc Dong, Deputy Chief of Standing Office of National Steering Committee 389, requested that sectors directly assess, fight against, and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights within their scope of responsibility. Representatives of central sectors also received and responded to recommendations within their authority and updated new directives of ministries and sectors on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman Bui Minh Tri said that in the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to deploy inspections according to the latest instructions of the Prime Minister, while strengthening inter-sectoral coordination, raising public awareness and strictly handling organizations and individuals who violate the law. Binh Duong considers this a key task to protect consumers, stabilize the market and contribute to local economic development.
