Nguyen Thanh Thuy in Suoi Tre hamlet, Long Nguyen commune, Ben Cat district has succeeded in growing green-skin grapefruit. Thanh Thuy grapefruit quality and trademark are not only famous but consumed inside and outside of the country.
More than wishes
With an ambition of possessing an
orchard, she left public security sector and her accommodation in the HCMC’s
Binh Thanh district to start a farming work at Long Nguyen land. In 2000, she
started growing green-skin grapefruit trees after a trip to grapefruit-growing
models.

grapefruit plantation to a tourist.
At present, Thuy has possessed 14ha of green-skin grapefruit with 6,000 trees bearing fruits. She has owned the Southeastern region’s biggest grapefruit orchard. She harvests 1-3 tons of grapefruit per day with a price of VND20,000-35,000 per kg. At present, a grapefruit tree has brought over VND2mil for her.

Nguyen Thanh Thuy is now the director of Thanh Thuy Company Limited, specializing in offering nurslings for farmers and grapefruits for supermarkets of Metro and CoopMart.
At the past Western fruit festival, her products won second prize and lured many partners. Her products are not only famous in the country but exported to nations such as the Netherlands, EU… Now, she has intended to build a warehouse to preserve her products.
